I originally planned on buying this set as I have owned Vizio TVs since they first came on the market, but my TV stand was only 43 inches wide and the feet on the stand were 46 inches apart. I worked with the sales rep to find a 60-inch TV with a base located at the center of the set and we settled on a Panasonic TC-60AS530U. When I got the Panasonic home and set up, I noticed there were gray lines running vertically down the screen that made sport events like ice hockey appear as though there was streaks on the camera lens. But this problem appeared any time the scene panned across the screen I returned that TV the next day. I asked to exchange that set for the Vizio. But the sales rep talked me into getting a 65-inch LG TV 65LB5200 instead. This set turned out to be quite a challenge because it weighed 30 pounds more (73 pounds for the LG versus 42 for the Panasonic) and required me to modify my TV stand to accommodate the added size (I should have made the modifications in the first place). After struggling to get the LG out of the box and on the stand, much to my dismay the picture had and oval shaped gray halo all the way around the screen. There was a "sweet spot" that almost made it go away but by moving literally one foot in either direction, the halo would reappear. Since this set was so heavy, I went back to Best Buy to set up a return/exchange for the Vizio. The customer service reps were very understanding, particularly after I showed them photos of the screen problems and set up delivery in two days time. The Vizio has totally out-performed both the Panasonic and the highly touted LG by a long shot. The larger 65-inch LG was also overwhelming for my relatively small home theater room. 60-inches feels better on the eye and is not that much smaller. The first and most notable improvement is that the Vizio used "full array" back lighting which gives uniform brightness all the way across the screen. Both the Panasonic and LG were "edge lit." Set-up was easy and picture calibration also went without a hitch. I used a Blu-Ray disc I have for calibration. The "Smart" feature on the Vizio was also easy to setup, but I have an Amazon Fire TV box, so the "Smart" feature is redundant for me. I also have a Pioneer Elite 7.1 surround system, so I won't comment on the built-in sound system. Overall, the Vizio's picture quality was every bit as good as the LG, but gets my vote because of the "full array" illumination eliminated the gray halo that was on the LG. I also should say that I purchased both the Panasonic and LG "sight unseen" since the store did not have those TVs on a working display. I would highly recommend not buying any TV without seeing it in operation in the store!!!!!! If you are looking for a 60-inch TV at a very friendly price, I would go with the Vizio!
