Great panel, horrendous implementation of remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start off this review by stating that as of this review this is clearly the least expensive 65 inch 4k tv that money can buy - though you can't tell that by looking at it! The panel itself is very good. Bright, great contrast ratio, decent enough blacks, very sharp and 4k is as great as it is advertised. Where this TV falls apart is in the remote control. The vizio smart cast app is awful. I can build servers, computers, root phones - I am the opposite of tech illiterate. It took me 15 minutes to get my phone to connect to this tv. Once connected, I found that many functions of the smart cast remote control software don't even work - one thing specifically driving me bonkers is that I can't turn the 'surround sound' off. I can't hear half of the game I'm watching as all I can hear is crowd noise. Half of the functions of the remote require activating more than once to get the tv to acknowledge it. I can't keep the led light on (control is there but doesn't work) which is very important on a panel like this (no tv tuner - more on that in a bit) as once you have turned off - say your xbox - there's no way to know if the panel is on or not, though I suppose if I could tell then the black level would be bad... My other M series Vizio has a wonderful remote - it even has a keyboard on the back of it. THAT is how you should control a TV. I also feel obligated to discuss the smart cast app in general. Currently it has a 2.4 out of 5 rating on the play store. Clearly I'm not the only one who doesn't like it. Valid points brought up by reviewers of the app discuss the very unnecessary permissions that the app requires to even run, the fact that you can't end or close or force stop the app once you have started it (uninstalling is the only way to remove it), and like me, difficulty connecting and various functions just don't work. Not to mention that most apps that work with chromecast will not work with this TV - that's right, no ESPN. Although this may change with firmware updates. I can live without the TV tuner (this may be an immediate deal breaker for many people that have 'cut the cord') but I invested in a TV tuner for my Xbox one which is amazing. I guess that's a sacrifice to make to get a panel like this for this price. This TV would be awesome if 3rd party apps could be installed on it - I mean, it's 2016 (almost 2017)! Why can't I install Kodi on this thing?! Without a TV tuner, it's like this panel was made for it! I will recommend this panel ONLY IF you are aware that you need to have some kind of media streaming device (like an Xbox One with a TV tuner) and in order to keep your sanity with the remote you will uninstall that horrible app after getting the basic things setup (sound, picture settings like brightness, etc.) - provided you can even get it to connect.

Posted .Thank you for your feedback! VIZIO is constantly evaluating and updating the SmartCast Application to improve our customer experience and user interface and to ensure the setup process works as smoothly as possible on the supported platforms. We are aware that content from the WatchESPN and ABC App is being blocked from casting to TVs and Displays with Google Chromecast built-in. This is a known issue with Google, and not a result of any technical issue with VIZIO SmartCast displays. We hope Google will be able to resolve the issue in a swift manner. In addition to allowing you to setup your VIZIO SmartCast TV/display, the VIZIO SmartCast app also lets you search and browse for content across multiple apps at once, like Hulu and VUDU, for quicker content discovery and playback. However, one of the great benefits of having ChromeCast built into our VIZIO SmartCast TVs/displays is that you can cast content from thousands of Chromecast-enabled apps that you already use, like Netflix, and take advantage of navigating their content catalogs on your mobile screen faster than you typically would navigating on a TV screen, and without disrupting what’s already playing on the TV.

Most frustrating TV I've ever owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite having a decent picture, this is the most frustrating TV I have ever owned. I'm not sure how much money the manufacturer saved by not including a full featured remote and forcing you to use an app on your phone to control basic functions like Input, but it's not worth it. Ditto not including a basic tuner and 75 ohm coax input so you can watch OTA channels. My other TVs are Samsungs, and their UI is much more user friendly then Vizios smart hub and include those basics.

Great Chromecast Screen But Not A Smart TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV thinking it was a Smart TV, but it is basically a Chromecast device. You can "cast" to this TV from your phone, your laptop or other device. It does not, however, have a tuner, or any apps on the screen itself. So, if you want to use apps like HBOnow, Netflix, or Amazon, you must have these apps installed on another device and "cast" to this screen, or have another device connected to the screen that has these "smart" functions. In my case, I bought a smart BluRay player that has these apps on it, so I can use the apps that way. I almost didn't buy the player, though, because the salesman told me the TV was a smart tv so I was duplicating the effort. Turns out, I needed the smart player so I didn't have to "cast" from my phone or laptop. This is a nice screen and it's a great price, so my beef is more with the salesman that it was a smart TV, when in fact it was just a Chromecast screen with no apps on it. If you already have other devices that have the apps you want, this is a perfect solution at a great price.

Great TV for the price, is also HDR10
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unsure why the specs say it is NOT HDR. It definitely is HDR10. It's advertised everywhere else, BB is the only one who didn't get that memo. Even the older E0 model has HDR10 as well. Set is great, HDR is great. The TV even streams native HEVC/x265 so transcoding is not necessary. Plex and every other streaming app you would need is already built-in.

Great Smart TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The remote is basic, but everyone has a smartphone and with the app your phone is a powerful remote. Some people said this was not a HDR TV, but I have set this up on my PS4 and it works beautifully. If you have a PSVR you need to connect the PS4 directly to the TV as the PSVR does not pass the HDR through, but that is Sony's fault. The only thing I found is on a fully white screen there are darker shadows in each corner, but this is not noticeable at all in normal use. This is my first non Sony TV ever and I could not be happier.

SMART TV Review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV is impressive. Big, 4K, can jump from app to app, etc. However, to be a SMART TV, it loses a star. I enjoy innovation like the kind we get from Samsung and iOS, and when I buy something this expensive, I expect the best, (regardless of the other competitive TVs on the market). It costs just a little under 1000 dollars, so I expect much. I did not expect a remote as such. I also didn't expect the Google Cast to be so basic. It is literally no different than using a regular TV and using a chromecast. At least the SMART cast could be a little more fun. However the TV is very impressive and good lookin'. Thanks for making an enjoyable product.

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went into Best Buy the other day and was looking at all the different TV's. We wanted a 60" or 65" TV and wanted to stay at or below $1,000.00. There were some older LG and Samsung ones I was looking at, but was told that this VIZIO was the best deal for what I was looking for and that it's overall a great TV. I have another VIZIO for our bedroom, so I know they are good TV's. The only thing that is going to take some getting used to is using my phone to stream Netflix and other apps. My other VIZIO had the apps right on the screen which made it easy. We have only had it for a couple days, but so far we love it.

DON'T BUY IF YOU HAVE A SOUNDBAR AND STILL WANT HD
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for the holiday season and one of the key features it was supposed to have is that it is capable of viewing 4K HDR content. I got it and lo and behold HDR is only available if your external HDMI source connects through the HDMI 1 port. This port also happens to be the dedicated ARC enabled port which you need to connect a soundbar. So if you want HDR then you can't connect your soundbar to the ARC port which enables you to seamlessly control the soundbar and tv together. Glaring design deficiency. I then asked what if I tried to watch HDR content through the integrated apps (like Netflix or Amazon Video). He said HDR support is only available for content coming through HDMI Port 1. So even their integrated apps won't show HDR content. I called Vizio support on that and the supervisor was insistent that it wasn't a design flaw and that I shouldn't really complain since this tv originally wasn't supposed to have HDR anyway and that it was something added on later. Rather than arguing with him I asked whether any other models had this glaring design deficiency. He said probably the P series didn't but that he couldn't look it up but told me to instead since it would take less time to do so. Pretty bad customer service when they can't answer questions about their products and tell you to do your own research. I will definitely be returning this TV and the related Vizio soundbar! Will never buy a Vizio product ever again!

Posted .This Display is capable of displaying HDR using the HDR10 standard. There are two ways to get HDR. You can get content by connecting an HDR device to HDMI 1, or by viewing HDR content from an application. This display will show HDR through apps like Netflix that support HDR. I'd like to apologize for the misinformation.

NEVER BUY VIZIO AGAIN! here is my story.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On Feb. 2, 2018 I purchased 2 VIZIO - 65" Class (64.5" Diag.) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HD Home Theater Display (Model: E65-E1 SKU: 5608905) from BestBuy.com. We just moved into a new house and feel like we should get 2 new TVs, one for living room and one for family room. And the delivery date is on Thu, Feb 8, 2018. As I mentioned above, our family just moved into a new house, so there are many things need to be done, like cleaning, unpack personal stuffs, etc. So, we setup those 2 TVs on maybe 12th . And we realize one of the 2 TVs has a problem that it will automatically turns on after turned off in 10 sec. Yes, only one of them, the other one has no this kind of issue. So, I called Vizio customer service about this issue the next day. The representative says there will be 2 choices for me, 1. Repair (about 3-5 days) and will give me a free sound bar as a gift. 2. A replacement will be sent to me but that could take about 10 days. I choose to have it repair and a free sound bar. But until today, no sound bar has been shipped to me I called to check the shipping status and was told has not shipped yet. Never mind, I just want my TV to be fixed. Until today, Feb. 22nd, an engineer has come to my house and fix the TV. He checked the TV and confirmed the issue, so he opened the back of the TV and replace the chip or maybe a mother board inside of the TV. And he checked again, the issue is gone. BUT!!!!! While he is checking the issue, he upside down the TV, I then noticed there is something in between of the LED panel and the plastic screen. Then we have taken a close look of it, realized that is a very small piece of paper, it's black. I think it was a corner of a warp paper of some parts of the TV. My assumption is, it went in to the screen during the assembling of the TV. The reason I mentioned "the engineer upside down the TV" is, this small piece of paper moves, we never see it when you place the TV on the table, because it in the corner of the screen, behind the black bar on the screen frame. Once he upside down the TV, the small paper moves in the middle of the screen, so we see it. I told the engineer what I saw, and he says he can not fix this issue, because he can not open the LED screen. Then he says he will report this to Vizio, I probably will get a replacement. Then he take out the newly installed chip (or called motherboard) and re-installed the old one back into the TV. He says there is no meaning of swap the chip, because you will get a replacement. I said ok, then he left, before he left he told me to contact Vizio again, to talk about the Issue today and see what's the next step and he will send the report to Vizio right now. After he's gone, I contacted the Vizio again, what I was told from the representative was ridiculous! She says, if there is a foreign item in the TV, the warranty is out, which is today. This TV is no longer covered with the warranty and will not be repaired nor replaced. I explained to her that 1st, the restart issue is not caused by the small piece of paper in the LED screen, and 2nd, the foreign item in the TV is not cause by the user, we just noticed this today. She still insists this TV is out of warranty and she can do nothing. So I asked her to transfer to a manager and I would like to talk about this issue to somebody may have a higher authority. Another lady has been transferred to me, I told her the same story and got the same answer with a rude manner. I was so frustrated and unhappy! She also pointed that, the only thing I could try is go to BestBuy and see if they can replace one for me. I said I just noticed there is something inside the screen and if the TV is not upside down I will never notice. She even said, you should check your TV 360 º before you start to use it. Anybody here check a brand-new item upside down before you use it? If no, please do this in the future if you are buying a Vizio product. I then called the engineer again and told him about this. Even he is so surprised that the decision made by Vizio. He said, he is only a repair guy and cannot make any decision but he will report Vizio again to confirm that, the TV has a defect and there is a small piece of paper in it, but the room (our living room) is a clean room which looks like this paper is not put by the user. After 10 mins, he called me again, and told me he has reported this again to Vizio. I thanked him. Then, I went to BestBuy and told the whole story to the store manager. He says, first, sorry about that, he can't do the replacement because is 19 days after the order (has to be within 15 days under BestBuy policy) and also strongly agree that this issue should be taken care by Vizio, it's a defect product. I agree too. It's like I spend a couple of hundreds to buy a defect product and cannot be repaired. I'm so tired and frustrated to call Vizio again, I am so unhappy about the policy and the customer service. This is the first time to buy a Vizio product and will be the last time of mine and anyone around me. I would like to tell this story and spread the words to all the customer as many as I can. the TV start by itself. And the technician also confirmed. This has nothing to do with the something being stuck in between the panels. It’s the problem of a chip in the back of the TV. After replaced, the auto start problem is gone. Why something in between of the panels makes the TV totally out of warranty and even the failed part can’t be replaced anymore? If you buy a new car, should you open the engine and check if there is any "something" in the engine? As a customer I only can check any problem OBVIOUS! As I mentioned above, this "something" moves in the screen, if you put the TV on the table this little "something" is covered by the black screen frame, you cant see it. If the technician didnt flip over the TV, the "something" will never be observed. AND the biggest question from me is, why this "something" can plunder my entire TV warranty, even this is not done by customer? I even don't know how to put "something" into a intact screen. Magician may know. Why Vizio always repeating the same dogma again and again? I know something in the TV is not covered by the warranty. Unthought it comes with the TV to me, never mind, I will call this UNLUCKY! The question I don’t understand is, 1. The TV will turn on by itself after turned off within 10 seconds. The Vizio technician has confirmed the problem is a part failure in the back of the TV and this has nothing to do with the something in the front screen of the TV.(after the tech replaced the part the problem is gone.) 2. Why something in between the panel takes all the warranty away? If this is the Vizio company policy, every customer needs to exam every corner of inside of a Vizio product when buying it or don’t buy a Vizio product.

Don't Waste Your Time or Money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV when it was on sale as the price was great and I was looking to upgrade to 4K and to 65". Within the first day of watching TV I noticed light gray vertical bars coming through the display (banding). I thought I might have received a defected TV so I went through the process of exchanging for the exact same model. After going through this lengthy exchange process, then mounting the new TV, I quickly noticed the same gray bars/banding issue (it's only prevalent when viewing lighter images; I noticed this heavily when watching hockey). I have now returned this product all together and went with a different brand. I am very disappointed in Vizio as I have always had good experiences in the past. If you are considering buying this TV, please proceed with caution. You will save yourself a lot of time and headaches if you just pass on this model all together. P.S. I rarely write reviews but due to the troubles I experienced I felt compelled to inform others before purchasing. I will say that despite the banding issue, the darker images and blacks looked great and the overall picture quality was very good. But take that information with a grain of salt. So unless you are ok with gray bands running through your TV display, just stay away.

Decent not as good as my other vizio 60" 4k
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.-The remote absolutely sucks. -Smartcast is way worse than old school smart tvs -the app is a nightmare to sync and use (same goes for my vizio soundbar) -picture quality is good -but its starting to freeze up (apparently a common issue after 500 hours) -i have last years model with real smart tv capabilities, and 240hz. Its a much better tv, wish ihad 2 if those (it was the same price)

Good Display but with a few issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This display is on par with the more expensive M and P series both technically and visually. The biggest issue I have with this is the lack of motion control for judder reduction. Movies typically run at 24 frames per second, or 24Hz. Any kind of streaming service that you can use with the built-in Chromecast sends signals at 60Hz. This TV, like other TV's need to perform what is called a reverse 3:2 pulldown to display the signal in the native 24Hz that the original movie was meant to be shown in. This TV cannot do it very well, so it is necessary to interpolate frames to keep the original format without the screen causing judder. For some reason, they did not include this "Reduce Judder" function like they did in the M and P series. If they had put this feature in, it would be a much better display.
