Had high hopes, although initial build quality left a lot to be desired. First power up the backlight wouldn't turn on. A full power cycle the backlight came on. During the first inspection found one stuck pixel towards the center of the screen, then looked to the right and found what looked like a smashed bug between the layers of the LCD. Not really impressed and decided to return and look at a different model.

Big 4K TV with wide color range

    >> Summary We were looking for an upgrade to our main old 55” 4K TV set with something bigger but not too big. This TV feels like the right upgrade size-wise while still providing a remarkable image once you adjust it with the proper settings. Favorable: Big screen, 4K, wide range of colors, decent number/selection of inputs, easy menu options to choose from, easy access to a myriad of free/unlimited streaming channels in one place. (5 stars for this) Not-so-favorable: The only issue I see is that, without doing image adjustment, the image comes out as a little washed out, even in actual 4k video. (4 stars for this). >> Unpacking (two people needed) This unit is heavy, so if you do not want to risk dropping it on the floor and/or damaging it (or harming yourself), you do need a helping hand to lift the box, unpack it, attach the legs and place it at the intended area. For attaching the legs, it is best to follow the instructions to lay the TV on a flat surface that leaves space to attach the legs (without removing the screen protecting padding it came with). We have a two-level floor, so we went by laying the TV on the top section of the floor and then attaching the legs above the bottom section of the floor. To be repetitive, we were two people doing that and even then, we were very cautions in not damaging the TV. >> Setup Make sure you measure your entertainment center or furniture to make sure it fits in/on it, take into consideration that the legs on the TV adds about 2” to its height and that the legs rest almost at the end of the sides of the TV (so a very wide top area is needed for this TV, unless you plan on placing it on the wall). Our TV furniture has an area at the center for the TV, and it ended up coming short by 1”, it currently holds a 55” 4k TV fine, but cannot hold this one. I’ll need to buy a TV stand to try to close the 2” gap, or a new furniture for this TV. I don’t plan to place it on the wall, it is just too heavy and my house walls have several decades on them already. Easy and painless setup, no major hurdles going through the setup menu, so not much to say, enter your WiFi (or connect your network cable to your router/switch) and ready to enjoy your favorite videos/channels. >> Image/Color The Vizio M-Series Quantum is advertised as having more colors than “regular” 4k TVs, this looks to be true when compared with my old 55” 4K TV, but with one caveat, without any adjustments, the image comes out as a little washed out, even in 4K and Dolby-Vision. This image washed-out is noticeable when compared to my other 55” 4K Toshiba TV (see one of the images comparing the two). As a result, I am not really sold on the claim that the Vizio Quantum TV has vibrant colors out of the box. In order to get vivid and vibrant colors one has to tinker with the image options for some time (I am not an image expert, so it was, and it is, a trial-and-error effort). HD/1080 Video: I can tell that there is some upscaling when playing in HD format, there seems to be some micro pixelation when I get very close to the TV. We tried sitting close (but not to close) to the TV, initially the bigger “pixels” are distracting, it took us a couple of days for our brains to adjust to it, so this is one more justification to respect the proper distance to the TV. Ambient Light Sensor: It makes a difference for situations where you do not want any lights when watching TV. The brightness is a more bearable with that setting on when watching TV in the dark (I prefer having ambient lights while my wife prefers a dark room). Backlight: really nice to have this option, I find it useful specially to get rid of some of that washed-out feeling off the image. Picture Mode: Picture Mode suggested is always "Calibrated". Sometimes, especially for HD cable TV, I find that "Vivid" mode is the best one (combined with some other adjustments). Calibrated mode seems to work better for Netflix. It is nice to have this option though. Color Temperature: easy three modes for some predefined settings, whether you want more vivid color or darker color. Very convenient. >> Sound I didn’t expect much about the sound to be a major selling point, since I will most likely use a good sound system on such good quality TV, but it is worth paying attention to it to assess the overall quality of the product. A bad sounding device would shine-me-away from buying it. I am actually pleased and so is my wife with the sound quality. Sound is enough to fill a big room, but you’d know that the sound is coming from the TV, not from your sound system. Bottom line, to give this TV its proper credit attach it to a good sound system. >> Connectivity Plenty of connections, 4HDMI, antenna, among others. Cable TV runs from the box through and HDMI cable to the TV, no complaints so far. TV Antenna: I have an HD TV antenna which I do not really use, I decided to give it a try with this TV. I’d say that the image quality is very good for the couple of non-telemarketing HD Channels available on open air TV; standard format is fine despite the size of the TV, just some pixelation (expected). The best of trying the TV antenna, though, was that we got one Latino channel (Telemundo) we like for free, so we didn’t need to put extra money on the coffers of our cable provider for that channel. There is also free Latino programming on Vizio’s WatchFree (there is plenty to watch in WatchFree!). Miracast: Used Microsoft’s Miracast to connect to the TV through HDMI, nice quality! See picture attached. >> Apps Well the main app we use is NetFlix, we are just impressed about the quality the picture comes out, well of course some image adjustment needed, so far very content with the performance of this TV. Wireless works like a charm and we can watch our favorite Netflix movies and shows. This is the first time I heard about Dolby-Vision content, and quite impressed that Netflix provides such content and this TV supports it. Only complaint is that with Dolby-Vision, the backlight option is not available. >> WatchFree! Amazing the variety of programming you can watch here! This is just worth the whole TV price! Mixed variety of SD and HD definitions for the most part, but excellent programming nonetheless. I wouldn’t mind watching a good history program in SD definition. I am delighted with this. >> Not-tested There are several things not tested thoroughly or not tested at all, such as gaming, I would need more pages and time to provide that. My focus was the size and image quality for my intended main TV.

Pretty good 4K quality. I purchased this 2 months ago and now I’m internet features won’t work. Keeps giving me “no internet connection” when it is connected successfully to my wifi network. It used to work, but it stopped working after 3 weeks. Also, when viewing content in HDR, pinkish red color is highly over saturated and exposed. It can’t be fixed. If my return window was open, I’d return it.

Was a nice large screen for $600 while it worked. But it just died after 18 months; screen is red and the various internet suggestions on resetting dont work. The pattern changes when we use the buttons on the remote, so it is the panel or signal processor that has failed.

Do Not Purchase a Vizio or Sony TV

Do not purchase this TV. Do not purchase a Visio product. They will release firmware updates that break 4K resolution, HDR, HDMI 2.1, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, etc. You can save hundreds of dollars by purchasing a 1080p TV without eARC or any other features. Again, just don't buy a Visio. Your 1080p TV might end up 480 after they release a firmware update in the middle of your movie. Their solution is to wait. It's been a known issue for over 2 weeks. Do not buy a Vizio product. It will be broken by a firmware update at some point. Look at reviews for Vizio products and CEC breaking. This is an ongoing problem they are ignoring. Do not buy a Vizio product.

If I could rate this zero stars I would. After only 5 months, a part of the screen on my TV failed. Vizio does not stand behind their products or their warranty and blamed me for “damaging” my own TV screen. The screen failed on its own, yet Vizio will not do anything to help me. I will never purchase another TV from Vizio and advise you to do the same unless you want a TV that lasts half a year. I am disappointed with both my purchase and Vizio as a company.

Bought a tv. Had to return it. Put more money down and bought a bigger nicer tv and there is a white line in the middle of my tv screen. Well it showed up 13 days into having it and I only had 15 to return it and had no way to make it in time. Went in asked and there’s nothing I guess they could do. So atm I’m stuck with a messed up 800 dollar tv. Couldn’t be more disappointed in my purchase. Even wanted to come back and get a sound bar, but what’s the point so something like this can happen again? So upset and so unprofessional of you guys.

DO NOT BUY VIZIO!!! I’ve had this tv for just over a year and a half and now it’s dead. Turned it off at night to go to bed and the best day it has vertical red lines all across the screen. Tried all of the usual resets and nothing worked. Called Vizio and they won’t do anything since they only offer a 1 year warranty. No knock to Best Buy!! I love this place. But I’m done with Vizio!!

Great TV with good smart features for the price

If you're in the market for a lower cost TV with good smart features, then this is the TV for you. If you want a superb picture and color quality, then you'll need to increase your budget and get a higher series Vizio. The TV has great smart features. Once you turn it on and run through the quick setup, you then have apps built in that you can quickly start streaming. It also allows you to cast just like you would to a Chromecast, and with most apps that stream video having this as a feature, its easy to quickly find things on your phone and get it playing on the TV. The other nice part is that you can mirror iOS devices, which is much harder to find without Apple TV. The overall design of the TV is nice too, and I like that you can disable to LED in the front. The speakers also work well for a TV. The main downside of the M series though is that the picture quality, especially the colors, isn't the best. I had the TV beside a tablet playing the same content, and the tablet colors just looked better. The TV colors just look a little washed out, even when trying to go through and adjust the colors. With that said, this is a really nice TV in the price range for this size TV. The money for what you spend it worth it. If you are looking for a better image in this cost range, I don't think you'll get it. I'm giving it a high rating when considering cost and what you get, but if you take the cost away and only compare picture quality this would be lower. Still a great TV!

I love my Vizio! The size, color, optics, sound and lighting is visually stunning. Does a very good job of muting sunlight when it hits the TV too! Excellent for gaming, streaming, and listening to music! Very quick response time from remote to TV, and I really like the google voice activation as well. I can turn it on/off, ask for a specific movie or song, flip through channels, raise the volume, etc. all with my voice for those times when the pesky remote goes missing!

Great budget TV, the picture looks great! The built-in "smartcast" apps (hulu, netflix, etc) sometimes crash when binging for several hours, returning you to the homscreen. The TV can't do 4k@120, I does 4k@60 with variable refresh rate and HDR & Dobly Vision. CEC on the NVidia shield works ok most of the time, but it does have input latency on occasion. Audio eARC & ARC works well with my Samsung soundbar from 2012, but there is some latency when changing the volume. (Must use HDMI Port #1 for eARC/ARC to work)

Worth the upgrade from 55” 4K Philips LED TV

Upgrading from a 55” Philips smart 4k TV. Vizio’s M series Quantum was the one i was keeping an eye on from a long time. I already own two of the Vizio soundbars (SB3821 & SB3651-F6), both have amazing sound quality, and have the latest dolby digital and dts technologies built in. The Vizio’s M series quantum is the cherry on the icing of the cake! It also supports Google chromecast and Apple airplay built int, along with Dolby Vision. hooked up my apple tv 4k and dolby vision and vizio’s sb3651-F6 make my living room a rumbling home theatre. The picture quality of the TV is awesome, deeper blacks, higher brightness, HDR+, and HLG with dolby vision support. Definitely, absolute value for money if you are looking to get a QLED Tv, but don’t want to sacrifice connectivity with iOS and Android casting. Gaming is a breeze on this tv with variable refresh rate and g-sync and low latency gaming in built. All in all, best TV so far, you might even get better TV experience than cheap Samsung's (non-QLED’s), and adding a sound-bar surround system will be epic.

A pretty solid budget tv. Not the brightest, but it looks good overall. Has some great features like HDR 10, and it’s game engine, etc. Vizio’s quality over the years has definitely declined, but the only real issue I’ve had with this tv is it kind of freezing when trying to startup streaming apps or going from one input to the next, where I just have to restart the tv and then everything’s fine. Would recommend if you’re not looking for anything fancy and can get a good deal on it, definitely a good looking tv for that.

Great Picture but died after 27 months

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Out of the box, the TV had a great picture, but mediocre sound. Slo I upgraded my home theater with a new Denon amp and Klipsch speakers. The TV was great. It would turn everything on and off just by selecting a different input and ran the sound from the amp all from the one remote. Then after a few months it started having issues. It would randomly not synch with the amp or other devices and had to be either powered off (pull the plug from the wall) or doing a hard reset from the menu. This got more frequent, and their customer service was horrendous. Finally, about 27 months later, I turned it on and it was all red lines. The Vizio service said it was a catastrophic failure and it was so sad I did not purchase an extended warranty. Bottom line, I would not recommend this TV because even before it failed, it had numerous technical issues. And a TV should last way longer than 27 months.

The picture quality is great but the software on it renders it nearly unusable. It likes to say it has no internet connection when it's connected. I have to manually reboot the tv nearly every time I want to watch something. Its latest trick is not loading the home page, preventing me from using any of the streaming apps. The solution for that is going into settings and changing the language to force it to reload then changing it back to English. I have to do this every single time I turn it on. I can't say how many times I've had to Google the different problems or error codes I get to try to fix them. Don't buy this, it's not worth the trouble.
