Great TV, but has panel uniformity problem

Fantastic TV especially for the price. Colors are vibrant and the brightness of the TV is blinding. I can't even imagine having the upgraded version of this TV that has double the peak brightness!
What I'm disappointed in is the panel uniformity or rather that the panel has a very visible vertical banding across the entirety of the TV. This is especially evident when you're watching content with large swaths of areas of the same color, such as a sky or dessert or cartoons. It's not a big deal for most action movies since the camera and actors tend to be moving and thus "hiding the crimes" of the panel uniformity issues.
The interface is easy to use, but it does have some hiccups while scrolling through the menus or trying to choose an online streaming service. The TV will also randomly lock up and will restart itself. It's happened about 3 times in the ~7 months I've had it, so it's not that big of a deal...

I’ve only had the tv for a couple of days now so I can’t speak on durability but this TV is absolutely fantastic. We moved our 55 inch Samsung TV and replaced it with this 65 inch P659-g1 and the quality is night and day.
My Setup:
HDMI 1 ARC = Sonos Beam
HDMI 2 = Apple TV 4K (UHD On, Dolby Vision On)
I use the calibrated setting with Dolby Vision ON as the screen can get a little dim. Rtings.com suggested upping the backlight to 60 and changing the gamma from 2.2 to a number closer to 1.8, but I kept my gamma at 2.2. Full Array set to Medium, Black Level set to Low, and all other settings are default.
Test:
I tested Netflix Cannabis Cooking Show, Disney Plus Toy Story 4, and Youtube TV Warriors Playoff Playback Games
When watching Toy Story 4, this TV made you feel you were in the scene with the Toys. As soon as the movie starts, the bright into Pixar screen with the lamp dramatically shifts into a completely black screen with rain, and 1 single lamp. This TV captured this image so well my wife and I literally felt like we were in the scene in the rain. I promise I’m not over exaggerating. The colors are spot on, the detail is life like, and the refresh rate of the TV is so smooth even without touching judder or motion blur settings.
The cannabis show showed all of the food colors astonishingly well. Colors looked natural, refreshing, and all you can say is wow.
I’ve read some reviews from multiple different outlets and folks were talking about upscaling standard 720/1080p content was average for this tv? No, it is not average this tv is excellent at upscaling. Youtube TV looks like the highest tier 1080p that you can see. The news had no pixelation, the warriors playoff game was super smooth with no frame rate issues, and the colors of popped extremely well
I highly recommend using this tv along with your Alexa or google device, Apple TV 4K, and a Sonos setup. The Apple TV with Dolby Vision enabled changes the TV watching game so well that I promise you will be amazed!!
The only negatives I can come up with for this tv is that it takes 5-10 seconds to turn on the set. My Samsung turned on the TV within 2-5 seconds easily
The second negative is if you’re scrolling through a menu or watching standard definition content, you may want to change your picture settings to turn off the black level to eliminate blooming. I don’t mind it because it’s barely noticeable and I’m just a set it and leave it alone kinda guy.

BEWARE VERTICAL BANDING!!!!

Review is for the 65 inch P659-G1. Wall mounted, the set itself looks really nice with the thin borders and silver bottom edge. Sound from the TV speakers is actually pretty good, but you will want a soundbar or play through a stereo. The remote control is basic and kind of cheap feeling,i upgraded to the XRT150 which is MUCH better.
Hooked up is Directv,a high end OPPO blu ray player (directly connected) and a firestick but no 4K. Picture ranges from really nice to great, even during the day in bright room. Reflections are reasonable but viewing from the side is very poor. picture only looks really good when you are basically straight on. Bright natural colors (i had TV calibrated) and pretty deep darks. Darks have a little crushing but not much blooming.
Motion for the most part is good, but there is a little "stutter" here or there.Sports look nice.
Upscaling is not very good at all,Vizio is poor in this department. DVDs or lower quality input suffer the most.
The main negative on the TV is the dreaded VERTICAL BANDING. Once you see it you cant unsee it. It is present when there is a lighter, mostly solid color backround (sky, sand, ocean) and there is a panning shot. You temporarily see the ugly vertical bars until the panning shot stops. Some people call them "jail bars" There is no fixing it and Vizio act like they dont really know what you are talking about while there TVs have become notorious for it. Its not there all the time and the TV looks nice otherwise but i'm stuck with it.
There is also a little DSE (dirty screen) from time to time but not a deal breaker like the vertical banding.
The smart features are slow and you cant add any apps to their limited menu (lame) so thats why i use a firestick too, which works much better and faster.
Bottom line:Looks great, nice picture, good sound, fair price but below average upscaling, smart features and remote. Vertical banding is the deal breaking issue and makes it impossible to recommend this TV.

Very sleek and super easy to use. Picture is excellent with lots of ability to adjust. The smart tv option works very well and comes with all of the major apps installed. Set up was very simple, but did take a few minutes to upload all of the newest software. But once done, it was super fast!! We have this model installed outside and the brightness makes it very easy to see during most of the day. So far very happy with it.

I have had it for 2 weeks all ready. The colors are nice and bright and black levels are off the charts. So far it comes close to the Q7 and Q8 FN from Samsung, when it displays quantum. color. When it comes to black levels, it beats both of them by miles, SDR like usual is average, but HDR is where it shines. Got it close to 1000 nits, but Vizio has always been known to make there M and P series TV's brighter as new updates are released. Great TV if you are entering Qled mid range tech. I was going to shoot for the quantum X P series, but will wait 2 years for 12 bit color, to spend over 2000 on a TV, and that will finally make HDMI 2.1 relevant.

Currently have owned the TV for apx. 5 weeks and have had a lot of usage and different types of viewing opportunities with a variety of media types. Fast Action movies display killer good and refresh wonderfully and even on the stock color profiles, the overall look is very impressive.
We opted to get the Sanus Table Mount with the TV as the legs were larger than the footprint of the space that we put the tv on so for us we're happy that the 65" TV looks clean without a wall mount.
The best part about the TV is that we're able to get all of the basic streaming options on the TV which eliminate un-necessary dongles and excessive power cords on the inputs for a clean look and overall less of a headache with less remotes. Note that NO SMART TV will be able to stream the same way that an Apple TV or Firestick streams, if you truly want a 100% quality streaming experience for your paid smart apps, go buy the dongle and solve your concerns with a small investment.
This 65" TV is a great buy for those looking for a budget-friendly high performance TV. If you have the space, and few hundred dollars more to spend, get the 75". Highly recommend this TV!

I am blown away with how good this tv looks. I do a lot of research when making a larger purchase because I want the best I can afford. If money is no object to you then go out and buy a $4,000 tv. If you don't have a lot to spend but still want to look like you do then this is the one for you. I started out looking to buy the TCL R615 because of the great value it has. I wanted to check out the other options first so when I finally got it home I wouldn't regret my purchase. The Vizio is much brighter then the TCL. The colors look more crisp and the bezel is thinner. I then compared this to similar priced LG and Samsung. Right off the bat Vizio is better. LG and Samung that are the same price are edge lit and do not get as bright or have local dimming. If you want the features Vizio gives you then you need to purchase the 9 series in LG or Samsung which are both at least $300 more. Same thing for the color depth. If you are on a very tight budget go with the TCL, if you have a bit more and want something very nice go with this Vizio you will not be disappointed. If you have money to waste then buy anything with a huge price tag on it. You also wont be disappointed but you did spend more money.

I bought this tv to replace a 6 year old 1080P 55'' Samsung tv. I was pretty set on getting another Samsung TV due to my complete lack of any issues, but the lack of Dolby Vision on the Qled tvs deterred me since I am very much into Apple's ecosystem. I was going back and forth after a lot of research between the Sony X900F/905G and the p series quantum. I went into the store to by last years (2018) p series but decided to not buy an open box. On a whim I bought this tv even though the quantum X is the successor to last years tv. So far it's been absolutely amazing. After adjusting the settings some 4K is frankly beautiful through my Appletv 4k. I've rewatched a bunch of movies just to experience them in 4k HDR/Dolby Vision. The colors pop, great brightness, and the blacks are very deep. My xbox one X also looks wonderful. I can't really comment on the smart features of this tv, since I use my Appletv. The remote is basic, sure it could be nicer feeling, but it works. Style wise the tv looks very nice and has plenty of HDMI ports. This is my first Vizio TV and I am blown away by it. This tv has the picture and features of tv's that cost hundreds of dollars more. I highly recommend it!

Number 1 you are going to have shell out a good amount of cash over 1300$ to beat what this tv does. Amazing black levels. Not quite on par with oled but for a led tv it’s as good as it gets. 4K content is stunning. Watch most of my content on an Apple TV in Dolby vision and it’s amazing. Even non 4K content on Hulu and other apps look really good. Good motion handling and processing. Got a Vizio Dolby atoms sound bar with it and the sound is phenomenal.
Drawbacks. Up scaling is not up to par. Watch my local channels on an antenna. Picture quality is lacking on anything not streamed from an app. Slight blooming issues in hdr. Not crazy bad but noticeable on black backgrounds with bright highlights. May be from hdr peak brightness being much higher than normal content. Defiantly want to get a streaming device. Built in SmartCast is lacking and slow.
Overall picture quality is my most important aspect in a tv and this does not disappoint.

The picture is absolutely tremendous - it's amazingly bright and vivid, The blacks are pitch-deep. The colors are super-saturated and beautiful and fluid, such that it looks more 'true' than real-life. I'm thrilled with this TV - it's a joy to watch, and easily competitive with the bigger brands at a higher price-point. I may wind up staring into it happily for the rest of my life.
But the operating system doesn't have all the smart-apps now available. It's missing some of the big ones, like HBO and Showtime. You can work around it by broadcasting those apps from your phone via smart-cast - (very cool!), but they should fix this. I would give 4.5, but since half-stars aren't allowed, so I gotta go with 5. It's like looking at the face of God.

This TV has a great picture and impressive specs for the price such as 120hz support for the price. It is a huge headache. I have to unplug it and plug it back in every time I use it. Sometimes it won't turn on, there will be colored lines flashing randomly, it won't connect to the internet, or it won't display input devices. The only way to solve these issues is by unplugging and plugging back in. Another major issue is there will be no audio for a few minutes when it is turned on occasionally. Also the vizio interface for apps is pretty bad. It's usable, but very basic and slow. Compared to other tvs with similar specs, it seems to be very well priced, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for.

Great picture quality and motion but has sluggish interface, limited apps and subpar 720p upscaling. Anybody planning to buy this TV needs a Roku device for a much smoother interface.
Had to return mine as it automatically turned on by itself. Sam’s Club sold the Quantum X for $979, but I bought the 2019 TCL 6 series from Best Buy after watching reviews from David Katzmaier (CNet) and FOMO on Tech. Apart from the motion and reflection handling, the TCL is a much better TV.

I've had so many TVs over the last 10 years I've lost count. From the 60" Sony SXRD to 42", 50", 58", 60", and 65" plasmas from LG and Panasonic including the vaunted Panny VT60. So I know a little about TVs. I purchased this Vizio from the BB warehouse in Suwanee, GA, before you could get them in stores.
So, the good: excellent black levels and shadow detail. Some blooming but so what? It's an LCD. You're going to have blooming (unlike my VT60 that has zero blooming). Excellent brightness especially with HDR movies. Good screen uniformity. Deep, rich colors.
The not so good: the OS blows. I know, it's not what many buy a TV for but it just blows. The remote ain't so hot either. But I consider those two to be small fry. What killed this TV for me and why it went back was poor gray uniformity that led to really bad DSE. In addition, in particular when watching hockey, there was a noticeable gray "bar" down the middle of the screen. It was as if the TV was divided into three large vertical zones. The left zone was clear, the middle zone had this translucent gray bar, and the right zone was clear. I read some reviews that mentioned this as well. Considering that I still, and will continue to own, the VT60 that is way too dark to enjoy hockey (I watch about 90 games a year) I did not want my new TV (that replaced a Panasonic 65" S60 in my mancave) to have any issues when watching hockey. But the Vizio did. BTW, yes, the TV had the same issue when very bright scenes came on the TV during UHD movies like in Interstellar.
So it went back. I purchased the LG 75SM90 whose black levels were atrocious. It went back. I then purchased the Sony XBR 75X900F and I'm in hockey and movie heaven. Not perfect. But no TV is including the hallowed OLEDs.
Very good TV for the money. Vizio has come a long way. But if you watch a lot of content with bright scenes like hockey, it's a washout.

When I went shopping for a larger TV for the living room, I originally set off to buy a maybe $400 "Just Ok" set. While I was in the store though, I noticed how good this set looked for the ~1k price. Head to head with the Samsung QLED and LG Nanocell this was looking as good or better than the competition. So I decided to buckle down and just buy it after some more research online.
The good:
Active dimming features - this tv has so many zones it doesn't "halo" very badly as cheaper sets do
4K - detail blows me away everytime we watch a bluray or 4k youtube
Brightness - this is one bright sucker....we actually turned the backlight DOWN a little...something I've never done on a tv before
Color - if you want a color-correct calibrated look, it looks pretty good set up that way (tried with a munki). If you like a little more saturation, this thing is amazing. The colors are super rich
The bad:
The color red - this TV gives great colors. Red in particular might be a little TOO great and need a little tone down though this is common to quantum dot tvs
Optical out - I prefer to use optical over ARC to isolate sound equipment's ground, but this tv doesn't support variable volume over optical. ARC is pretty good though with a competent system (Plus some dolby modes don't work over optical anyway)
Game mode - a good idea, definitely reduces input lag. beware though, when used with my xbox one if you watch a bluray at 24fps it seems like there is a buffering issue as the screen flashes (fine at 60fps)
The stand is very wide...we had to go to Ikea and buy a new stand, the legs are 52" apart roughly.
The untested:
I dont use the smart features (have AppleTV) and I generally try to avoid buying smart tv's because of the slowness and issues smart introduces (getting harder...) Can report that just not connecting this thing to the internet + never accepting EULA, smart has stayed 100% out of the way. I forget it even has a whole unused smart side.

The picture is the best I've seen, but I had to tweak it. The backlight is so bright I had to reduce the level. The black level is so black I had to increase the brightness to reveal the detail. Color is awesome.
I use an AVR for sound. ARC makes the Vizio TV easy to connect to the AVR. HDMI-CEC features of the Vizio TV, AVR, BluRay player, and Amazon Fire TV Stick makes everything easier to control. The name of the connected device shows up on the AVR display.
I generally don't like smart TVs because you can't upgrade their intelligence. You can't add apps to Vizio Smartcast. I wish there was an HDHomeRun app. You get what you get. I connected an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. Vizio Smartcast does include WatchFree.
I'm a cord cutter. I recommend Amazon Fire TV Recast to time- shift local broadcast TV. I also have SiliconDust HDHomeRun Connect which I can access from Fire TV, but not Smartcast. I could add HDHomeRun Servio.

When we were looking at new TV’s, I researched every brand and model that was around the 1K mark and decided on this one and I am so glad we did. This TV is perfect!
It was very well protected in its packaging and super easy to set up. The picture on this TV is absolutely stunning!!!! The people in the foreground stands out from the background so it’s almost 3D((ish).
I am not using the factory speakers so I can not comment on how they are. We decided to use a 4k ROKU instead of the built in modem as Charter only streams with ROKU and a Samsung.
If you are trying to decide on the M series of this TV, I encourage you to spend an additional $100 and get this P series. Getting double of everything that the M has is well worth the small cost!

This is one of the best LED's you can possibly get. Deep Blacks and Quantum Dot color are outstanding. The 120 panel definitely beats the TCL hands down. The Quantum X is too bright for me and this tv is perfect. Better than Samsung QLED and less than half the price. OLED is too expensive for the burn-in risk. For the money this tv cannot be beat.

Originally bought the Samsung Q70 a few days ago thinking that it was finally the TV I have been hunting for a few months for and I was surprisingly disappointed with the performance of that TV and the overall picture. In some aspects it's an amazing TV yes, but in some ways it's also not. I'm not the type of person to spend almost $4,000 on the Q90 from Samsung. I do my research extensively before I make a large purchase on a TV. With all due respect to the mighty OLED TVs, they are not for me either. The risk of burn in on them would make me greatly regret spending big bucks on one for it to get burn in. Also had the TCL 6 series for a while as well, and it's a great budget TV, but I wanted more performance from a TV without spending an arm and a leg for a TV. So I referred to Rtings.com and this Vizio P Series Quantum had high marks and good reviews all the way around. It even scores better than the Samsung Q90 in some areas, and it's a third of the price of the Q90. This Vizio P Series Quantum is a titan of a TV! It's got Quantum Dots, 192 local dimming zones, outstanding picture quality, its 65 inches, and it only has 26ms of input lag for all the gamers out there. There's even a dedicated HDMI port (#5) That you can get it all the way down to 15ms for all the twitch reflex gamers out there. All of this for only $1299 on the TV that I paid for. I believe it normally goes for $1500 (4th of July sale) I'm finally happy with my TV after months of research and trial and error. Thank you Vizio, and Best Buy! Very happy and finally content! I'm set for years now!

I have had this tv for about a week now and most likely will stick with it. It is a QLED which means it gets pretty decently bright and HDR Video pops more, it doesnt quite have the deep blacks as a OLED but I mean for the price, you are getting a pretty decent TV that competes with some higher end brands and competitors like Samsung Q60 and Q70. My one gripe is that there are some screen uniformity issues that are more prevalent in bright solid colors its slight but when you see it, it can be hard to ignore it. It looks like banding of some sort. It can also suffer from other common problems that QLEDs have like a slight glow around text or contrasty images. Other than that the build quality is impressive its pretty sleek looking. Easy to set up and overall the picture quality is impressive, especially for the price.
