    Sound is good, that's about it

    If you are using simply for sound with your TV or something that is hardwired to it it sounds and works fine. If you are planning to use VizioCast or BlueTooth, I caution you. I use BT and ChromeCast in my home on a daily basis, that is what was attractive about this set up. I have no issues with any of my wireless devices that use ChromeCast or BT except this one. The connection gets lost and a reset is required for BT each time so I just gave up. With ChromeCast, the connection drops and needs to be re-established frequently or the audio gets choppy.

    Great sound for about 6 months

    @vizio I purchased this about 16 months ago and it worked amazingly well for the first 6 months or so with a couple minor issues with connectivity. The issues were resolved when I contacted customer service support and they advised me to reset my system. Another 6 months pass by and the issues came back. I proceeded to reset the system like before and it did not help. I contacted customer service and they had me take my system apart to relocate it to another TV to check the problems by isolating the issues. This took about 3 hours out of my day. After all of this, it was determined that the arc function was broken. I asked for a replacement only to be told it was outside the warranty. I still have this unit for the meantime but I now use the optical connection and have to adjust the source every time I turn it on bc it will lag 1-3 seconds behind my Samsung TV. Now I'm hesitant to purchase any other Vizio products to avoid future headaches.

    I didn't want to spend over $1k for Bose so went for this Vizio product to match the TV I bought. I did notice the sound cut out occasionally so I switched to HDMI connection for the sound bar and changed the ARC settings, hopefully this solves the issue. Other than that it works well. Wireless sub with back speakers attached to it make it easier than fishing wires.

    I was upgrading from the Vizo 38" 5.1 system because I got a good deal on the sb40 version, but in a way I feel I downgraded. I truly think the 38" sound bar sounds fuller and has better dialogue sound quality. This one seems bland and muffled with dialogue. The sub is very good, much better than the sb38 model. The sb38 just seems to work better together with its sub where this sb40 seems like it's really easy to notice that the sound bar and sub are operating as separate units instead of blending together. I had to crank the satellite speakers to full blast to make them noticeable. It is a very loud but not that clear of a system and the sub does put out an impressive amount of deep bass. It's easily controlled using the right combo of separate settings for the bass and subwoofer. If they paired the sb4051 subwoofer with the sb3851 sound bar, that would be a home run. Until then, it's either a great sound bar with an underpowered sub or an ok sound bar with a great sub.

    I’ve had this system up for a few days now and I’m impressed with the soundbar quality. However; when it comes to the satellite speakers and subwoofer I’m less than impressed. For the price you pay I’d expect better quality out of both. The subwoofer is fairly nonexistent and I’ve played around with the settings multiple times. The satellite speakers are very grainy and there is a lot of static that comes from them. I understand they help balance sound, but certainly don’t expect the static that I can hear from them. Wishing I would have gone with a lesser product for a fraction of the price on this one. Soundbar also showed up with a dent on the external frame. Only noticed this when I put it on the wall. It doesn’t affect the sound, and you only see it when looking closely at the top of the bar.

    Read reviews prior to purchasing. I was very skeptical of soundbars and had a home entertainment system in a box prior. The setup for this product was simple. It came with more than everything you need. You can adjust levels of bass, treble, etc. Wireless sub is under my couch. Sound exceeded my expectations. Worth the price. I almost never write reviews but this product deserved one. Well done Vizio! I recommend buying speaker stands for the rear speakers.....

    Subwoofer won't pair properly

    Like quite a few others on here, I have had issues with the subwoofer pairing consistently. I'm currently on my second unit, and it will have to be replaced/returned. When the system works; it sounds great - but that's ONLY when it works! First unit worked fine for about 1 and a half weeks, then started having pairing issues. Tried everything as suggested in the manual to no avail. After several phone calls to Visio, I was told that there was a problem with a certain batch of these units. So, I had to box mine up and send it back to them (before they would send my new unit) - so I was without a sound bar for 2 weeks - all the while my warranty was still running from the original purchase date according to Visio. Now that my second unit has been installed for a week and a half - it's doing the exact same thing. I'm willing to give Visio one more chance - but only because I'm beyond my date to return this unit to Best Buy. I guess the one silver lining in this whole fiasco is that I can keep returning the unit and SURELY I'll eventually get a good one!!

    Smartcast doesn't work;

    As a sound bar this is "okay", but I am returning it. The goal was to have an integrated speaker system using Vizio Smartcast. Well it is BS. The software is terrible and they don't keep their equipment up to date. So my Crave 360 speaker couldn't work with this sound bar or Spotify. Neither could work with my Google Home. The sound bar would crackle at full volume for 10 sec when first casting. Vizio support people were friendly, but an 1hour working with them couldn't overcome the software bugs and hardware issues. All-in-all a very disappointing experience

      This is not the experience we would like our customers to have. We are aware of an issue affecting Spotify casting on some 3rd party Google Cast-enabled products including the VIZIO SmartCast SP50 & SP70. VIZIO has disabled the Spotify app on these models until the issue is resolved. VIZIO is working with Google and Spotify on a correction via a firmware update. Once available, the product will update automatically. In the meantime, VIZIO recommends using Bluetooth when streaming from Spotify.     Buyers Beware

    The Vizio soundbars have a “known issue” with the sub-woofer wirelessly pairing with the soundbar. We ordered our first from Best Buy. When it didn’t work, Vizio sent us a new one. When it didn’t work, they sent us a third, which was finally as easy as they said it was supposed to be and paired without issue. Both times, I was told by the technician “this is a known issue”. Each replacement was to be shipped second day air, according to them, but it took 4 and 5 days to receive. What we were supposed to have for Christmas day, we had in mid-January. And to cap it all off, I had to take the defective items, perfectly boxed, to the UPS store. They didn’t even send UPS to pick them up. Even though it works fine now, I wouldn’t do it again. Buy another brand or be prepared to spend hours of your life dealing with this.

    Spotify Does Not Cast to Soundbar

    I purchased this sound bar on the promise of built-in Google Cast. Otherwise, I would have purchased last year's model which is nearly identical but much less expensive. The sound quality of build of the soundbar, woofers, and satellite speakers is great, but know that when you purchase this product you WILL NOT be able to cast music from SPOTIFY directly to the soundbar. Pandora will work. Google Music will work. But Spotify is not supported. I have raised this issue to Vizio customer service, Google customer service, and Spotify customer service. It doesn't matter to me who's issue it is to solve, I want it fixed and do not recommend this product until it is. I will update this review once it is fixed.     The sound quality is really good my only complaint is evertime the system turns off and than turn it back on about an hour later the subwoofer looses paring signal. Why is that.

    Good sound

    Has great sound but after a very short time the system stopped being able to be seen by the app your supposed to be able to use to control the sound bar instead of the remote. Tried emailing vizio but after a few replies and it still not being resolved they stopped all communication with me. If I would of known it wouldn't work with the app after a few days I would never of bought the system.
