I purchased this phone as my entry into connecting my cell-phones into a land-line phone. It did set up (though the blue-tooth signal is limited range in my home.) When purchasing I was assured by Best Buy salespeople - who are usually reasonably informed but apparently not about their phone system options - that additional handsets could be purchased. When attempting to do so in-store, I was first directed to a handset that was not compatible and brought it back, so this time I called V-Tech directly to purchase a handset and was told it was too "new a model" so I had to order through a store. VTech gave me a model number, which I ordered online through Best Buy, but unfortunately this (DS6501) is NOT compatible. So now, I have a second set of phones to return. In inquiring with Vtech yet again, I was given a different model # and again told I had to source that through a supplier. This time Best Buy did not show it online, and after 30 minutes of trying to connect with Best Buy by telephone, they do not have the handset. I have given up and will try to return the whole disaster and buy a Panasonic.

Not for use with cell phones

    Posted .

This VTech DS6621 says it is for use with cell phones, even perfect for cell-only families. Two problems. One, the answering machine in the base is designed to be used with landlines only, according to VTech technical service, and will not engage an incoming cell phone call under any circumstances -- including that cell-only family that does not have a landline to attach to the DS6621. The other, frequently the home base "un-pairs" itself with the cellphone. If you were not watching your cell phone when it happened, you would not know you are disconnected. Your cellphone would think it is still paired, and the base unit of the DS6621 still shows the cell line as active. Only when someone calls and you are with your cell phone and with the DS6621 base unit -- hearing one ring and the other one not ring -- would you know the DS6621 had unpaired you.

    Online Description is Inaccurate

I specifically wanted a phone with a headset jack. Best Buy's description clearly states it has a "headset jack". This is different from Blue Tooth compatibility. This phone does NOT have a headset jack! How is this allowed??!! Can't speak to the functionality of the phone as it is going right back to the store.

    NO HEADSET JACK

    Posted .

Out of necessity, I am going to have a home phone again, not because I want one. It is a requirement for online college. My only requirement for a phone was a headset jack. I read every description of every phone on the Best Buy website. This phone satisfied my requirement. It was more than I wanted to spend and comes with two handsets but I compromised. Imagine my surprise when I received the phone today and there is no headset jack. I called Best Buy customer service, they called VTech. The answer was: it has blue tooth. FIX THE DESCRIPTION!!!

sskemp - Thank you for your comments. We checked the description (model DS6521-2), and we don't see where it mentions a headset jack. The model DS6671-3 comes with a completely wireless headsetVTech

This phone was fine for the 1st year and then one died and two weeks later the other died! The only thing that works is the answering machine. I do not recommend this phone at all.

Best Buy is wrong, NOT talking caller ID

I specifically searched for a talking caller ID phone. I had it delivered free (it wasn't in stock locally at the time). I installed it only to discover it didn't talk. I returned it. Can't speak to the quality, I didn't keep it. I'm forced to answer: Ignore if I would recommend it - Don't know, I didn't keep it Ignore my rating - I don't know
