The reboot of this series started okay, dropped a little in the last movie and has fallen flat with this one. The only thing I even kind of liked in this movie was naming the little girl "Nova" as a way to pay respect to the original.

This movie sucked. Apes look like tired men in suits & a gross under use of Woody Haraldson. Worst one in the trilogy

I felt like we wasted our time as a family watching this movie. It was very slow and we were disappointed in it after watching the two prior movies.

This was a great movie in the new Apes series, very powerful and emotional. The action scenes were intense and some good suspense towards the end. The 4K looks great, no Dolby Vision but the solid HDR really makes up for it. The audio sounds pretty good too. Highly recommended.

    3D review

This movie is everything Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was and so much more. What was missing in Dawn is in this one. They way they wove the plot to start tying into the Apes movies from the 70s was brilliant. Except I think it would need to be Blue Eyes that had the son Cornelius, not Caesar. It needs that one more generation to tie in correctly. Remember, Cornelius only knew humans to be dumb. From the very beginning the 3D is awesome. My first thought was, “The 3D is as great as…wait, the 3D sucked in the last one.” Beautiful landscapes, tunnels, army base, etc. I especially loved the area the apes were living in. Not much for pop outs, but this is one of those rare movies that was beautifully done. The CGI is unbelievably flawless. I can’t imagine it getting much better than this. The visuals are stunningly beautiful. The soundtrack must not have been outstanding because I don’t remember it, but I know it played into the tension of the movie. I think it just wasn’t music…it was all feeling based. No rumbling couch that I could remember though. The storyline was SO well done. I know I mentioned that above, but it needs to be mentioned again. I was fully engrossed throughout the whole movie. A lot of tension and emotion. Matt Reeves directed a masterpiece. I’ve never even heard of him before. Of course we again love and root for Caesar, but who couldn’t love Bad Ape? I want to see more of him. He provided some chuckles with his childlike innocence. Back in the days of “Cheers” who would have thought Woody Harrelson could actually act? Much less some of the roles he has taken on since then to get rid of that dumb but charming typecast he was doomed to be stuck in. In this movie, you can only hate him. What it must take to get into a role of being this horrible of a person. What happened to his son Blue Eyes? We know he got out of the water, right? Did I miss something? I really hope they do more because they left a few things up in the air. This warrants another trilogy to tie in to the original franchise. Now remember, I’m one that refused to watch these because I thought they would be done horribly and take away from what I loved as a child. They have my total respect for doing this brilliantly. I still need to see the first in this trilogy! It’s not in 3D so I’m not really in a hurry. I give this movie a 10 out of 5 stars. Yeah, this is in my top favorites now.
