I expected that I would find the lossless sound on the Blu Ray to be better than the dvd. I was not disappointed. Very good extras on the discs also.

Like The Thing & The Fly, this version of War of the Worlds tells the same story in a different way. Unlike Independence Day and its ilk, this story is told from the point of view of common people simply trying to survive. The cast (especially Tom Cruise as an irresponsible parent thrust into the most extreme of circumstances) is solid, as are the 9/11 sensibilites.

I have the original Bluray of War... This is a total revelation compared. Both sound and image are beyond breathtaking!!!

While it changes the family dynamic, this film updates the original story to fit the current time while still being faithful. It has good acting, and a tremendous audio mix. Video is bleached and grained up to mimic old war footage, just like Saving Private Ryan. It has a bit of a Spielberg "touch" though, which sort of hurts the end, but it's worth it.

Should I really say anything about this film I mean come on, it's directed by the man who doesn't need an introduction, but the film was amazing, made you relize what would happen if we really had an invasion in our world and its not a pretty picture, but dont take my word for it, so pick up this film and see for yourself

i know many people do not like this remake, but i, for one, enjoy it. i thought it was done well and looked great. as for the steel itself, yes, it is not as ground breaking as many others, but it is solid and is a nice addition to my collection.

I thought this was a pretty good movie with some excellent special effects. The most annoying part of the movie was Dakota Fanning screaming every 5 minutes. Other than that this is pretty good movie.

I purchased this mainly because of the steelbook. I was wanting the bluray edition of this movie for a while and when it came out in steelbook i jumped on it. Great artwork on the outside and inside.

I've always enjoyed Tom Cruise movies so i bought this one in 4k to enjoy with my Atmos setup

I was really looking forward to this movie (which is based on one of my favorite novels), and was somewhat pleased. I don't like Tom Cruise, but he was OK in this movie. I liked the references to the original book (the tripod ships, the red weed), but I did not like the design of the alien creatures at all....They were too "cutesy", and did not seem to be the deadly threat the movie tried to make of them. Tim Robbins was way over the top, and incredibly annoying. Other than the movie, I wish there were more "making of" material....

I really enjoyed this movie. It was action packed. I was on the edge of my seat through the whole movie.

There was more of the plot that was true to the book. Inappropriate language which made it difficult to show to students after reading the book.

Good film and great blu-ray transfer, quality is top notch in terms of audio and visuals.

Great remake of the classic movie. My only complaint would be that the ending of the movie left me wanting a little but more.

War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise is a must-see film!

This is a really good movie and suspenseful. This is an older movie but well worth getting on blueray.

The casting in the movie is good for the people playing their selective roles,and the special effects are not to bad as well.But the plot really doesn't make sense.It seems like the aliens have hidden their space ships underground on earth so they come down in flashes of lighting to burrow Thur the ground to get to their ships.See it for the effects,and cast,but the plot is not so good.
