I'd rather watch grass grow!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love sci-fi movies!! War of the Worlds has some really good Special effects and sound and that's about it! Movie starts off pretty good and had me really intrigued. When the lightning strikes and dark clouds began, I was like "stuff's bout to get real!!" but it actually just got stupid. Tom Cruise's kids were annoying as heck and I was hoping the aliens got them. There's aliens attacking and killing everyone in sight and his son is having daddy issues during this and the daughter was asking incredibly stupid and unnecessary questions...such unrealistic behaviors. The aliens were kicking butt throughout the movie, the armed forces tried to fight back but the aliens had force fields surrounding their crafts that couldn't be penatrated. It was a losing situation for humans then all of a sudden the aliens just start dying off because of apparent ALLERGIES from a plant or something...just freaking stupid!! I don't know what everyone else was watching but this WAS NOT a great movie. It was barely worth the $9 I paid. I'd rather use this as coasters for my drinks

Spielberg's Grainy Period
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Be forewarned that Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" is part of a series of his films where he opted for a grainy photographic look for the movie which probably started with "Saving Private Ryan" but also includes "Minority Report". The issue with grain on a 4k version is that it tends to obliterate sharpness of edges on certain objects, surfaces or characters...and textures that should be smooth and slick...which gives the film a more newsreel-like look but doesn't really justify the transition to 4k. If you have a Blu-ray player that can upscale to 4k (like certain Oppo's) then purchasing these films in Blu-ray should suffice. My Blu-rays of Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" upscaled on my Oppo player actually look sharper and crisper than this 4k version of "War of the Worlds". Caveat emptor.

Terrible writing and directing,
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Probably Spielberg’s worst movie. Good performance by Tom cruise as always but the writing and directing are awful. I love sci fi and a good alien invasion flick but I regret this purchase. Plus the steelbook design is just a reprint of the old blu ray version, they couldn’t even bother to make some new art.

Not a steelbook
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is not an actual steelbook, its just some off-brand metal case holding this movie. I collect steelbooks for uniformity.

The only thing good was the CGI
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tom Cruise was good as dead-beat dad and the CGI is pure greatness, but this movie fell flat. They had too much going on and it didn't tie everything together.
