Must have for fans of the movie

As you can tell from the other reviews, this movie provokes an intense reaction in people. It is the type of movie that you either love or hate. There is no middle ground. But what I can say with certainty is that if you are a fan of the movie this is the version to get. --HIGHLIGHTS-- There is extra never before seen footage that Watchmen fans will appreciate. The audio and video quality is the absolute best this movie has ever looked. HDR-10

UHD disc did not work in Xbox One S. Keeping it for when I upgrade my system I guess. Can't return it as it has been opened.

One of the best comic adaptations of all time!

Don't listen to the people who say the violence is over the top, or the "intercourse is ridiculous." This graphic novel is so loaded with nudity and violence (in a good way) that the movie would have to include it to be faithful! I love the gritty look that Snyder gave it. It reminds me of the amazing art from the book. Sure, there are some minor adjustments to plot and the ending is slightly different (better if you ask me). But, film and print are 2 totally different media types! Why do fans always have to complain that the movie was a little different? Who cares? Your comic books are being brought to life. Isn't that what we all wished for when we were kids? I am willing to let a few changes go (just a few) if that means I can see my childhood heroes in motion on screen. I am also really glad Zack got to put 24 minutes back into the film for the video release. There is so much going on in the book that you would have to make a 6 hour mini series to even touch it, but a 3-hr movie is great, especially after seeing the theatrical version this spring. I just wish the Blu-ray had all the webisodes of the making of the film as extras. Don't forget to pick up the companion disc of the Black Freighter. It's really well done and the main character is perfectly voiced by Gerard Butler. Watchmen Rules!!!

The most accurate graphic novel adaption ever

Not counting Batman(1989), Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight, I have never seen this epic of a movie based on a graphic novel. The cast of characters for the most part look like they were torn from the pages of the graphic novel. For those not familiar with it: Watchmen follows viglante Rorschach on his quest for justice (vengeance?) after the death of a former superhero in a alternate 1985 where superheros have been outlawed. Rorschach begins to uncover a plot that jepordizes millions, at least. And Jackie Earle Haley is impressive as Rorschach, he almost looks exactly like him. Watchmen: The Director's Cut features 24 extra minutes of footage (a 3 hour and 30 min. version with Tales of the Black Freighter spliced in will be released during the holiday season), video journals, commentary, and a music video, if you get the basic Director's Cut. You can find most if not all versions of Watchmen at best buy (plus two special editions, one case looking like Rorschach and the other is one of the godlike Dr. Manhattan, which are BestBuy exclusive). Watchmen must be seen to be believed, it is a thrill ride that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat until the very end.

    Good DC movie

Zack Snyder did a really good job of developing the characters through the use of flashbacks. For a 3 hour movie it sure didn't seem that long. There was not one actor that I didn't believe to had done a great job playing their part especially Roschach. Roschach (the guy wearing the ink blot mask) was by far my favorite. He had no weapons other than a grapple gun, if you consider that a weapon, and he really used his knowledge and anger to punish those who prey on the innocent. My favorite line is not the one that was in all the previews but when he is in prison and he says to the prisoners, "You just don't get it, I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with ME!" There is alot of bone breaking action, suspense, and they throw in a few laughs as well. I conclude by saying this should more than likely be in every blu-ray collection unless you hate superhero movies.

    Freaking Awesome movie!

Well I watched this knowing nothing about Watchmen and I immediately loved the story. I think it is just as good as the Dark Knight. It is very dark and engrossing. It does have a plot and I liked it very much. The characters are very well done and you really get to know them all. It looks great too! I mean come on! It's Zack Snyder directing! What I really liked was the fact that for a three hour movie it really didn't seem to be that long. There wasn't many slow spots in the movie. It also has a very interesting sound track. There are some odd choices you would think at first, but then you remember it's set in 1985. To sum it up it's a very cool movie. You don't have to take my word for it. Even Roger Ebert gave it 4/4 stars.

I first saw this picture when it was initially released in IMAX format. I had never read the graphic novel but after a stellar review in the NY Post and having an afternoon to kill I went to see it and was totally blown away. So much so that I went back the next day to see it again while it was fresh in my mind. I have since read the graphic novel and have re-watched the movie perhaps ten times, most recently, the Director's Cut in Blue Ray. WOW!!! In some ways it is superior to the novel, most obviously in the fact that it is absolute eye-candy and I think the characterizations by the cast is exactly right. The scenes and music during the opening credits (Dylan singing, "The Times They Are A-Changin'") are worth the price of the disc alone. In brief, this film deserves to be seen by anyone who loves great movie-making and if you are a fan of the graphic novel and have not seen this movie you deserve a visit from Rorschach at about 3am.

This movie was awesome!!!!! first to begin with this movie looks absolutely amazing on bluray. It seems to me that the bluray technology is improving more, and more when I purchase them. the costumes really pop off screen with vibrant details. The sound clarity is superior. the sounds are so immersive and i haven't connected it to my home theater yet. The story is like no other. I like that it went back in time. It adds mystery to the movie. This movie is deep. the acting was phenomenal and well crafted. The only thing I find wrong with the movie is the ending it did get a little confusing at the end. To sum it all up, Watchmen is must have on bluray. The action scenes complement the bluray technology very well.

This is an absolutely amazing movie, my wife and I love it!!! After a lengthy discussion with my wife, we have to place this movie in the same category as Batman Begins, Dark Knight, and Sin City. Yes, it's that good! From the imagery, to the acting, to the special effects, everything was amazing! One thing that impressed me was the character depth, I'm big on that. The director, Zach Snyder (300, Dawn of the Dead), is starting to make a name for himself. This movie is very powerful and extremely entertaining. Aside from the three films listed above, this is the best movie I've seen in a long time. I can't say enough, I highly recommend it! If you don't like this film, someone should poke you with a stick to make sure you're alive!!! (Also, look forward to the Ultimate Collector's Edition, coming in Dec.)

    Actually a good movie

Even though this movie was hyped all over the place and became a huge flop for Paramount and Warner Bros. this film isn't that bad. This film or story has many layers in it and to make sense of it you have to peel back the layers and pay attention...especially in the title credits since it shows you the history of the watchmen. Zack Snyder actually paid a lot of attention to detail to the graphic novel to bring it to life on the screen. He even used the comic panels as storyboards for the scenes and action sequences. It was a little long...could've been shorter. With this director's cut, I'm betting that it will actually be longer. Also if you can get past seeing a lot of naked blueness of Dr. Manhatten, then you might enjoy this movie. Overall, the novel is better, but to see it on the big screen/ little screen, it's a good adaptation.

Extremely high quality, but no special features

Zack Snyder's adaptation of 'Watchmen' is finally here on DVD, and the overall package is pretty good, if a little skimpy. The movie itself was excellent, or at least I thought so, its ver independant from other super-hero flicks, and really sets itself apart with the gritty setting and bloody violence. The picture and audio are just amazing, they really raise the bar for what can be done on DVD. But outside of that, nothing. The special features are non-existant, no deleted scenes, documentary, yada yada yada. There isn't even a 2-Disc special edition! Just a one disc release with nothing but the movie. Its an obvious attempt to sucker you into getting the Watchmen Ultimate Collectors Edition this December, with all the special stuff one would want, but for now, we just have the movie. At least thats superb.

All I can say is that this movie is epic. Wonderfully adapted and beautifully acted, The Watchmen is made for the hardcore fan and the new comer alike. I wish they could have kept the ending true to the story, but after watching it for a second time, the ending makes perfect sense. I loved the motion comic as well, so for those that want a little more....check that out. The additional 24 min. really help build up some of the story line that was lost in the haze, but I still think that their will be another edition released later that will top the four hour mark (Rumored!!!!)....

So who is watching the Watchmen?

I am very impressed with this movie; 5 of 5 stars. Just watched the extended Director's cut making it a very very long movie. The story is very complex with alot of flash-backs and even some flash-forwards. Several stories are intermixed until they finally all come together. Great characters; though I didn't really connect with any of them. Unique style of photography and vision. I just added this to my list of favorites. I will have to see this movie a few times to completely digest and understand it; complex.
