    Amazing adaptation ! ! !

I just have to say that this film definitely lived up to my expectations. Just the opening credits alone (accompanied by Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin'") is visually stunning. Zack Snyder truly immersed himself in the story of the graphic novel and managed to capture distinct details that I was happy to catch as I watched the film. This director's cut version includes even more footage which unfortunately was not shown in the theatrical version; including one of the novel's most significant events: the death of Hollis Mason's (Nite Owl I). Whether you have read the novel or not, you'll definitely enjoy this flick.

All you could want in a Blu-Ray release

I'm not going to review the film, just the Blu-Ray; you can go to Rotten Tomatoes for that. The picture and sound are epic; watch this through a decent system and your living room is better than any movie theater. Seriously. There are more extras than I would ever have time to watch. I'm stoked that prices have come down so much on Blu-Ray discs. I thought about buying this a couple of years ago, but passed; at $9.99, I couldn't afford NOT to buy it.

I had thought about getting the watchmen on Blu-Ray since i saw the movie in theaters. I didnt buy the blu-ray right away because i wanted to make sure i was getting the best version i could. When i saw that this had come out at my Local Store i picked it up. I like the fact that its in a Steelbook, but i dont like how the discs are overlapping each other. They are in their own spindle but would've preferred One on Each side of the case, much like traditional dual disc releases. The artwork and the case made it worth waiting for.

This movie was AMAZING in theatres, I told my friend right after I saw this with him that I'm totally buying this on blu-ray, I did. and this movie is still awesome, only one downside, WHERE'S THE 24 Minutes of extra footage!? I watched this today and saw like 5 minutes of unshown footage. either that or the other unshown footage were just prolonged scenery shots or pauses in dialogue. oh well, I got the ps3 version so at least I got a game with this. BONUS!

This movie is great!!! Watchmen is based off one of the greatest graphic novels ever made that won the hugo award. The plot is set in 1985 in an alternate America were masked vigalantes go around saving people and there is a doomsday clock that counts down to nuclear war with the Soviet Union. One of the masked vigalantes is murdered at 5 till midnight on the doomsday clock and one of his fellow colleagues is murdered and he decides to investigate his murder which leads to even worst things.

Excellent Representation of the Graphic Novel!

As a translation from the comic to film this movie could not have been done better. It was truly brilliant. It has a steep learning curve for those who haven't read the novel, and this may be too much to overcome. But if you are a fan of Moore's dark masterpiece, this film is nearly perfect. Characters are very well developed, great special affects, fascinating story, Overall Great Representation of the Graphic Novel, Loved It!

Not for diehard Watchmen fans but otherwise decent

Love the cover - like the comic. Artistic follows the comic storyline pretty well except for one major change but doesn't really do it justice. Probably not for some into Watchmen but good casual watch

    Good price for a Steelbook

This is an excellent price if you are a steelbook collector. But if you want to see the film at its best, the Ultimate Cut version is the one to own. If that's not possible, then the Director's Cut should be the second option. The theatrical Steelbook edition is the version that people who slam the movie have seen...missing an HOUR of footage!

2nd best comic book movie ever!!!

This is my 2nd favorite movie I've seen it at least a hundred times, the movie was just perfect. With slight changes it was beautifully transferred over to film. When I first saw the trailer I was in aw, and when I saw the actual film I was still in my same state. It was actually better than I expected I read some of the special features that will be included and before I forget; it's going to be 24 min. longer I can't wait to watch the Watchmen:Director's Cut

Amazing if you are familiar with source material

The Watchmen 4K version has the color depth and visuals that you would expect in a UHD picture. If you are familiar with The Watchmen graphic novels/source material then you will absolutely love this film. If you know next to nothing about The Watchmen/the backstory then a 3+ hour long film about weird "super heroes" whom you have never heard of will get boring after the first hour or so.

This was a great movie, much better than I expected. The acting was very good, considering there were no big name stars in this film. The director does a good job of getting you in touch with each character. There's lots of action, great special effects and imagery. This was a very impressive film! I would have to put this somewhere between Sin City and The Dark Knight. Fantastic movie, highly recommended!

Ok seriously, being not aware of the original story I can tell you, I LOVE THIS MOVIE, and to be honest, its a pretty fair adaption on top of that, the casting couldn't have been greater and seriously! SERIOUSLY! get over Dr. Mannhattan's big blue you know what, I'm so glad we can finally see p*nis in a Hollywood film and not give it an X rating for it, thank God Hollywood is growing up! No punt intended..

the acting was superb along with the actors. one of the adaptations in my eyes. I am not too happy about waiting for the ultimate edition if that is even still coming like originally planned. I guess I'll have to wait and see! see this movie especially if you want to see what was taken out! I highly recommend it.

If you have read the novels then you would see many discrepancies in this film, which may or may not bother you. If you have never read the novels then this movie is perfect. Lots of action, great sound effects and visually stunning. just not 100% true to the original story, which I understand.

Great potential lost thanks to unnecessary fluff.

This project was rejected by 4 director's before Snider came onboard. This movie was bound to disappoint but surprisingly many of the choices made in the film could have been avoided. First off, contrary to previous reviewer below remarks, this movie DOES go overboard with extended material that was not explicitly detailed in the novel as it is here. The most talked about (and true) examples being the ultra violent fight scene during a jail break, an alley scene and the murder and final confrontation. Nowhere in the novel, which has been quoted as a storyboard for the film, were there ever people being tossed 20 ft away through tile, granite and pillars only to get up and fight back. The very first murder scene takes you through 5 minutes of this over the top Power Ranger choreography while the novel leaves the worst to the imagination and shows a few exchanges before having the victim tossed out the window. I guess the quick exchange wasn't Hollywood enough for Snider and co. Ditto the ridiculous final confrontation that embarassingly has one of the best characters being thrown into a giant marble pillar in a Matrix fashion only to get up and fix his coat and scarf. Again, not in the novel and does nothing to flesh out and add to the story. One couple walked out of the theatre upon a moment where one character deals a fatal blow to a child kidnapper that was pretentious and overtop in it's execution ( When will tHollywood learn what Alan Moore, original author, knew: that less is more.) No need to add fluff. Ditto an intimat scene which was tastefully done in no more than 4 panels in the novel (despite the adult themes and motivation behind the acts) but extended into...I don't know...a 6-7showtime experience with a horrible song choice playing in the background and an unnecessary use of pyro. Though the moment has themes of fetish for the characters involved, I fail to see why it had to be so for the audience members. I wonder if they conducted a survey to determine that it would take that long in film time for us to 'get' that they were having intercourse. With that out of the way, the story is very complex, entertaining and introduces you to characters you love and want to learn more about. You care about the mystery and the plight of these characters though the movie has some difficulty transitioning between present and flashback sequences. The opening credits did a great job of condensing numerous flashback scenes (irony for you Snider, why not shorten the matrix fights and intercourse to add more flashback/story). Overall, this could have been a phenominal hit and did poorly in theatres because of some poor choices made by Snider and co. When you have a time constraint for a story as epic as this, the choices you make are instrumental in it's success and the reality is this movie suffers not because of what couldn''t make the final cut but what was added that did nothing to further the story, characters, or experience. This movie needed to be successful but hopefully Hollywood learns a lesson as to why it wasn't so we wont have a repeat down the road.

    Unique super hero movie

A darker, more brooding superhero film than what usually fills cinema screens. Start with the graphic novel if you can, but the movie is great as a standalone feature! Recommended to anyone looking for something a little different in the superhero genre.

The comics come to life. The story is beautifully told with astonishing special effects. If you're a fan of the comics, the extended edition is a must. I do wish this had come with a digital copy however.
