Easy to install. Problem = Replacement cost

The LG-Water Filter works great

However, the replacement timing is based solely on time of usage in months (approx. 6 months). How does this equate to gallons for a low water user vs, a high water user. The Filter should monitor volume through it for recommended replacement, At $50.00 a Filter, this would make more sense to me.
