    Used a generic last time based on comment from salesperson. Now my filter system is broken. LG refrigerators probably should use LG filters.

    If you know, or feel you need a water filter this will remove some unwanted junk from your drinking water this will remove the items listed on the packaging. I find it to be expensive. My tap water is probably equal to the water passed thru this filter. Just my guess. I would opt to not use this feature of the frige if I could convince my wife..

    This item was great. It makes the water taste fresh and does it's job. Sure you can go with the Best Buy store brand, but I think this one is better due to being made by the manufacturer. Just my opinion based on experience with the Best Buy brand products.
