I have tried the " generic house brands " but they have been slower to dispense water and do not last as long as the Samsung. You will have to decide if the higher cost is worth it.

So there are about 3sizes of filters that can be use depending on your refrigerator. ..Make/model. I grabbed this one but it wasn't the correct one however I still stand behind Samsung.

On September 18, 2018, Consumer Reports published an analysis on the problems that cheap online water filters have and found that many sold online are actually counterfeits. F A brief excerpt from the article when discussing online filters: "...at least some of them are counterfeit water filters. They are sold online, some under the refrigerator’s brand name, but are actually fakes. Just last year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized more than 100,000 counterfeit water filters entering the country. According to a recent industry-sponsored study, counterfeit filters can do more harm than good—contaminating the water that passes through them. As a result, Consumer Reports believes these counterfeits pose a potential health concern." Sure, you can find an online refrigerator water filter that's cheaper, but it's better to visit a store you trust (like Best Buy) and pay a little bit more for a genuine Samsung filter. That way you have the assurance that your water filter is actually removing impurities; not adding them.

Looked at many of the 3rd party filters and they were a lot cheaper, but they did a lot less filtration as well. Read the label carefully to see what the filter does!

Local Pacific store did not have item in stock. They put it on order, and we got it by mail three days later. Would have been convenient if it were available in store; but the Pacific Sales staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It worked out. We bought a replacement and a reserve.

This filter lasts at least 6 months, maybe longer. Definitely recommend it if you use a lot of ice and/or filtered water from your Samsung refrigerator/freezer.

It's a filter. It filters the water. As far as I can tell it's doing what it's supposed to do.

I purchased this water filter when the one in my refrigerator needed to be changed. I of course went to my local Best Buy who always seems to have what I need.

Name brand filter for Samsung refrigerator, in stock at store near me. Price was same as at a different store a lot farther away.

The experience was positive, except displeased that the store has discontinued carrying Epson 78 ink cartridges. That forces me to visit Office Depot and other stationary stores.

I like to know my filter is genuine. Will spend the extra money over purchasing possible fake at Amazon.
