The water tastes "clean and clear" but the last filter I bought only lasted 3 months instead of the projected 6 months and we don't use the filtered water that much so I'm wondering why the alarm went off so quickly. Another concern is how expensive this filter is. At this rate it would cost me $200 a year.

The refrigerator's water filter light will let you know when those six months are up and should be reset after changing the filter.
