This filter was easy to install and after running the appropriate amount of water to clear the filter, the water taste was so crisp and clean! Over time, it’s easy to gradually get used to inferior tasting water but it pays to change theses on time every time. Just wish the cost was less.

My refrigerator is ten years old and I’ve changed the ice compartment twice. Now, despite replacing the filter the indicating light remains red. Ordinarily, the light becomes blue when filter is replaced.

I don't think there is a lot of room to sing it's praises or critique it. Either it works or it doesn't. My only critique is more about the unit it goes in. I have a samsung refrigerator that says to replace it every six months, regardless of use and I don't understand why a filter can't have it's display of useful life go by the amount of water filtered.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought my new fridge a few months ago and was changing the water filter for the first time. I noticed 2 things.... When I put the new filter in it squealed loudly when dispensing water. I took it out and put it back in about 5 times because the squealing would change in pitch and frequency each time. The last time it was still squealing but not as bad. After using the water in the door for about 2 weeks the squeal stopped and has not done it since. However, I swear that the water does not flow as fast as it did with the original filter that came with the unit (same model number of course). I know the water came out much faster before. Sometimes it drives me crazy because I am not patient enough for the water to come out at that pace. There is nothing I can do about either issue. As far as purchasing one goes... They are very hard to find. I called several stores (that were not Best Buy) and everyone was out of stock. They tell me they are hard to keep in stock. Luckily, Best Buy had one, but Best Buy price is about $6 higher than a large chain hardware/do-it-yourself store, but Best Buy had one and I needed it at any price. NOTE: With the new Samsung fridge the water and ice started tasting absolutely horrible a couple of days before the icon changed red indicating a change was needed, so I would recommend having one on hand just as soon as the icon begins to change colors because you may have to change it immediately. (We had to buy ice for a couple of days when I was trying to locate a filter).

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.it is a necessary evil for my fridge however it does what it is supposed to do it filters the water great. I get no funny tastes like I do from non filtered tap water. My water is double filtered when it comes out of the fridge as we have a water softener/filter installed. It does seem to expire pretty quickly. I think the filter is set on a timer of some sort vs actual usage usage to trigger the alarm. However this is a fridge issue and not this actual filter which is being reviewed. I consider this a necessary evil to owning the fridge. BUT it is one that works.

Installation is easy. People mention cost, but compared to Brita filters and Pitchers, this is cheaper.
