I would much rather drink the refrigerated filtered water than the bottled waters we have been buying. We purchased the Samsung refrigerator 6 months ago and replaced the filter right on time.

This is a simple filter to install when your original needs replacing. Make sure to run 8-10 glasses of water after installation to get any air out of the hose. Water is clean and tasted good.

On September 18, 2018, Consumer Reports published an analysis on the problems that cheap online water filters have and found that many sold online are actually counterfeits. F A brief excerpt from the article when discussing online filters: "...at least some of them are counterfeit water filters. They are sold online, some under the refrigerator’s brand name, but are actually fakes. Just last year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized more than 100,000 counterfeit water filters entering the country. According to a recent industry-sponsored study, counterfeit filters can do more harm than good—contaminating the water that passes through them. As a result, Consumer Reports believes these counterfeits pose a potential health concern." Sure, you can find an online refrigerator water filter that's cheaper, but it's better to visit a store you trust (like Best Buy) and pay a little bit more for a genuine Samsung filter. That way you have the assurance that your water filter is actually removing impurities; not adding them.

Direct replacement so didn't have an issues with quality and taste.

Looked at many of the 3rd party filters and they were a lot cheaper, but they did a lot less filtration as well. Read the label carefully to see what the filter does!

It works as intended. However, the refrigerator has a sensor that detects whether the filter needs to be changed, and the "red" warning is still on even after I installed it. I guess the warning has nothing to do with whether the filter is new or not.
