It appears to be the exact same product that I normally purchase for replacing my refrigerator filter.

They will last 6 months based on normal usage. Just remember to run about a gallon of water through the filter after installing it, some of the media will come through and make the water cloudy.

I've been burned so much over the past few years buying filters from the smile-on-the-box folks and receiving counterfeit products. Best Buy's price is in line with all the other dealers, and you get the added bonus of taking the filter home that day and knowing its a genuine part. Samsung, for their part, has started adding a security feature to the filters. There is a sticker on the side of the filter and a magnet in the box. You peel the sticker off the filter and place it over the magnet to reveal green stripes. This verifies the filter is a genuine OEM part. I'll be back for filters every 6 months Best Buy!
