now quite sure how to rate a filter but it does its job. this is the one required by my refrigerator.

These run out quickly and the price was competitive at bestbuy, albeit still expensive. A tip for changing out the filter: Use pliers to grip the old filter and don't be afraid of breaking it when you twist. Really hard without pliers. You won't break it and it doesn't matter anyway. Don't use the pliers on the new filter. Hand turning is easy. Only removal is hard. Also, since it needs to be changed every 6 months, there is a big surge I demand just before major holiday sales so buy it prior to those sales when everyone buys the refrigerators.

The only issue i have with the filter (other than the price) is that it takes FOREVER with ALL water filters to flush through for first use. Has to be an easier and less messy way...

It may not filter everything but makes the water taste better. The filter indicator on the fridge is just a six month timer so I usually replace the filter when the water taste starts to change.
