So after paying to have the section of the refrigerator that houses the filter replaced, we only purchase the Samsung brand of this filter now. Haven't had a problem since.

Wipe up a few drops of water that spills and you're done. Don't forget to reset the reminder light on the refrigerator. Then run at least a gallon of water through the filer to flush out any impurities from the manufacturing proces

It says 6 months although the refrigerator indicator usually comes on after 4 months to replace this one.
