Luckily, this works fine and the water/ice tastes normal. It lasts us about six months at a time. It's a little tricky to get in/out of the fridge but like i said, it's the only choice.

This filter is easy enough for me to change out and updating the fridge is even easier. Plus, the price has gone down about $20 since I bought the first one.
