With 4 kids in and out of a fridge all day, every day, a water filter needs to be changed a little more often than not. When we first bought fridge about 2 years ago, filters were $45. Now they are $53. Although I LOVE my refrigerator, Families on tight budgets need to think twice before making such a huge investment.

The refrigerator's water filter light will let you know when those six months are up and should be reset after changing the filter.
