Then just turn off water, turn filter to left to unlock, replace, turn to right, turn water back on, press and hold light button (i think) and filter alarm is cleared. Google product manual for more accurate details about clearing the alarm

There are a few cons, none of which can be resolved by the end-user; • The filter should last 9-12 months. I have another fridge of a different brand, and its filter is smaller, and works for almost a year before replacement is needed. • It should be easier to change. To avoid having to fight the water pressure from the wall valve, you have to pull the fridge out, turn the water off at the wall, replace the filter, (vacuum behind and under fridge, optionally), turn the water back on, push the fridge back. I have another fridge of a different brand, and its filter is changed by opening the fridge door, remove a cover, and replace. I would "recommend this to a friend," only because its the only choice there is when it comes to this fridge. As far as I know, that is.

About the water filter in your Samsung Refrigerator.
Replacing the water filter in your fridge helps keep your water tasting fresh and helps to prevent odors. Your Family Hub panel will notify you when it’s time to change it, which is about every 6 months. First make sure you purchase a genuine Samsung filter made specifically for your fridge model. You can find replacements on Samsung.com. When you’re ready to replace it, turn off the water line to the fridge, drain the waterline by running the dispenser, and then turn the old filter counterclockwise to pull it out. After you insert the new filter, turn it clockwise to lock it in place, and then turn your water valve back on. All that’s left is to run the water for a few minutes to flush it and reset the replace filter alert on your fridge.
