Got this for the extended edition. A comparison between the remastered 1080p bluray and 4k disc showed next to no difference between the two.

The 4K disc had a dark gray tint and you couldn’t make out the picture. The Blu-ray Disc works but I already had it.

Great set design and concept but it kind of lulls near the middle. Picks up again near the end.

DO NOT BUY THIS 4K. The color transfer is AWFUL, everything looks purple, orange or green. The “extended” version has slightly better color tones, but provides 40 minutes of absolutely trite, pointless and stupid dialogue that should have remained on the cutting floor. Stick with the Blu-ray.

Not the best, not the worst. This special edition is definitely the best option for purchase though.

4K Steelbook Version Comes With The Ulysses Cut

    Posted .

First things first, this steelbook is beautiful. 2. It is going to be extremely rare, as each store received 3 copies of the film in Steelbooks, so expect prices to skyrocket if you did not secure a copy in-store at MSRP. Why the steelbook is cheaper than the regular 4k copy, I have no idea. The Ulysses Cut is on the 4k disc, which extends the movie from 2 hours, to 2 hours and 40 minutes, adding a lot more depth to the story, and what you remember seeing in theatres or on TV. The only other time that the extended version was released, was in a special version that you had to order online in order to get. Seriously, do yourself a favor, and pick this up if you can. If you don;t like it, hold it for a little while and sell it for a profit.

    Good version after all

I bought this blu-ray yesterday and just watched it 3 hrs ago. the movie is beautiful. all the swearing is there and so is helens bare backside which you see all of so i don't know what the other guy was talking about the only parts that were cut was at the very end where helen is talking to the mariner and gives him a free gift something he'll need and the part where they uncover the sir edmund hillary stone. for some reason those parts are not in this version. my biggest problem with this blu-ray ? no special features except for one trailer. other than that it's a great movie and great looking on blu-ray!

Best Movie from its time, worst review...

This movie was given a bad wrap from the media when it released in theatres. Those that were fortunate enough to grab the Laserdisc version, or see the "whole" movie know what i am going to say about the movie. This movie had everything a blockbuster needed, but some people thought that they didn't need the 45 mins worth of movie that they cut. When you see the full movie, it's like watching a different movie. The whole plot is revealed in those 45 mins of restored movie. Everyone who has seen this version loves the movie. I would recommend this movie to everyone.

water-world is a pretty good movie the only down side id that the blu-ray does not included the dr-cut version bc i have seen both versions and i like the dr-cut better but this blu-ray version is still pretty good so if you like to see a pretty good movie than check it out well worth seeing

This is the CUT, EDITED version

    Posted .

From Amazon: "A few years after Waterworld was released on video ABC aired an extended cut on public television. I have been waiting for a long time for the extended edition to be released and now it finally has been. While watching it I relied something that shocked me that is the ABC version, the cussing is gone, the violence is soften and some scenes have been cut out, and no Helen bare back shot. Even some of the sound effects and music has been changed. After doing more research I found this to be true. Instead of revising a 'true' extended edition Universal just put the ABC version on here (without commercials of course) and just added a 5.1 soundtrack to it. What a waste of money this was/is. I guess that's why it is only 15 bucks, I would have gladly spent 50 bucks for an unedited extended cut. If you have the DVD, google "The Ulysses Cut" to get the full, unedited (or rather, edited to fullness) version that they couldn't manage to put together for this release. A kind soul has done for free on his home computer what the studio couldn't seem to do with a budget." Your decision. Personally, I'd hold off for the extended release--if they decide to listen to the fans.

I watched this movie. This movie is one of the most scattered movie that I have ever seen. This is by far the worst movie that Kevin Costner has ever done. I would not recommend this movie to anyone.
