Soon as I got my Steam Deck OLED, I popped this card right in. I'm not sure if the new model itself runs games faster, but the loading screens are almost non-existent now. Not like on a PS5 of course, but definitely at a minimum. Highly recommended.

Cloned my old HD, installed this one, thermal pasted (recommended, if you swap out the memory from a Surface Pro, for example you'll find a metal casing with thermal tape underneath.) Thought all was good, and then Windows BSOD (Blue screen of death) Upon doing a little research, found you'll need to update the drivers, especially for Windows. Once that was done, no problems. Just wish I had known and not wasted so many frustrating weeks figuring it out.

Great but had a few failed boots had to return to get another and decided that Rog ally had to small of screen with low performance and drive wasn’t worth it

The drive is fine but the WD is priced higher than other brands while not providing any extra speed in comparison. You can get a faster option at a much lower cost when shopping on Amaz**. Best Buy will match the prices, however, if you find a better price for the same item (must be ships/sold by Amaz** however).

Needed to upgrade SteamDeck, didnt want to pay $180 for memory and 1GB is too little. Saw the price drop and ran with it asap! Best decision ever!

This is my second one I got. They work really well, reliable, and quickly transfers files. Great for your portable PC of choice.

Worked well in my laptop and the price was pretty decent as well.

Purchased to upgrade Dell Latitude 7440. Seemed to work out of the box and extremely fast. However my laptop started to freeze up periodically. The Windows system event viewer showed read errors on the drive during those freezes that would last 5 minutes or more. As well I'd get blue screen of death. Tried to work with Western Digital support for over a month and they were totally worthless. Last WD device for me.

Western Digital has released another successful M.2 NVMe SSD, this time designed in the 2230 form factor. It boasts gen4 speeds and the benchmarks do seem to back that data up. Using this with the ASUS Ally gives it the much needed drive space for essentially all your gaming needs. The performance of this versus the original SSD in the Ally are very similar, benchmarks show read in 5.1k MB/s and write in 4.8k MB/s. As for temperatures, the card does get pretty hot as expected in such a small enclosure. During stress testing, expect to see spikes of up to to 80 degrees Celsius, however during normal operation it seems to stay around 60 degrees with is acceptable. With how easy it is to upgrade storage on the Ally, this is an excellent option without any compromises. Although this is a smaller form factor, you can of course use this in any supported gen4 M.2 slots, giving you more options if say a sale comes along. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking, and in my past experience Western Digital has been reliable as far as SSD's go.
