Rock-solid reliable and SMOKING fast, VERY slightly beating out even the mighty Samsung 980 Pro in random reads/throughput and (for me) even more importantly in game level loading. Honestly this drive is insanely fast and I CAN notice the difference in "snappiness" between it and the 500gb WD SN750 Gen 3 boot-drive it replaced. Having said that, the difference isn't just small it's freaking miniscule. I was able to get this drive for the same price as the 980 Pro with a price-match but I wouldn't have hesitated to go with the Samsung instead if BB had declined the match. Also note if I had it to do again I think I'd save my $50 and opt for the very slightly slower Samsung 970 EVO Gen 3 instead. 4 stars ... sadly I had to dock one for price per GB/bad value.

The WD_Black would cause my PC to not POST/boot/restart. In either m2 slot. My extra WD Blue (gen 3) drive would. So I swapped for Samsung 980 (gen 4)this morning and it worked out of the box (that also came w/o standoffs or screws FYI). I was only trying to add storage. Should be just plug & format/manage & play. Spent 2 full days troubleshooting. Took notes on process throughout as to not lose place and/or find a consistent "trick". No consistency other than NO POST on restart if I was even able to POST to begin with. MOBO (msi b550 gaming plus) is latest BIOS. Attempted default settings and disabled/enabled what I could 1 at a time. Others have had success with UEFI and/or disabling any "boosts" or OC's. Not me. Tricking it to recognize it required removing it each time so my computer would boot then powering down, installing it back, and praying. When I was able to boot the few times I did, it would be hung up on CPU (ez Debug light) when restarted 100% of the time. From BIOS or windows. I was even able to format it once.

I used this to expand the storage in my PS5. You need to add a heat sink. This works perfect.

M.2 drives made sata SSDs obsolete. This one is freaking ridiculously fast.
