A smarter option price wise… this Gen nvme is perfect for the PS5… I bought this without the heat sink… bought an EKWB nvme heat sink easy install and fits perfect….. only thing you may need to update the nvme before using to get the 7,000 read write thing I didn’t and it’s reading at 6,550 so I’m going to do that today…. This 1TB is awesome.

I ended up returning this as I got a much better deal on a Sabrent Rocket Plus, but the WD performs the same. You can't go wrong with WD. I've been using WD hard drives since 2002 and have NEVER had one go bad. I end up having to retire them because despite no SMART indications I just can't believe that they have lasted as long as they have.

Fast, runs a bit hot but speeds are worth it. I can no longer user a HDD.

I purchased this for the eventually upgrade of the SSD for PS5. With the new PS5 update I installed this inna heatsink and put it into the PS5. I have notice that it loads just as fast as the PS5’s onboard drive. In some games beating it by a second. Really great M2 and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to use this is my PS5 upgrade drive.

Bought this for PS5. Just make sure you get a separate heatsink so it stays cool. Heatsinks can be found online under $10 and there easy to attach to the ssd drive. So far so good. Just as fast if not a tic faster then the drive pre-installed in the PS5. Its also the model recommended by Mark Cerny the guy that actually designed PS4 and PS5.

Great M.2 SSD for speed! This drive benchmarked around 6.8gb/s Read speed in the 4 systems I built with it. Make sure your motherboard will make use of the speed ( B550 / X570 chipsets for AMD systems- Z590 / B560 for Intel ) This is currently one of the fastest M.2 SSD drives on the market! You may get boot speeds for Windows 10 in the 5-7 second range.

Super fast loading on everything! It works perfect with the PS5 no complains it might even load a lil bit faster then the system ssd which is probably because its only loading the games and not the OS like the system ssd.

Perfectly compatible with the PS5 SSD expansion slot, and matches the speeds of the internal SSD of the PS5. You will need to buy and attach a heat sink (maybe $10-$30) to transfer some of the generated heat away from the SSD. I also noticed that while definitely fast enough to meet performance requirements of the PS5, my initial read speeds were closer to 6000 MB/s, which was lower than the advertised speed; this could be an outlier, but I wonder if it was being throttled by the PS5 or if my SSD was indeed slightly slower than supposed to.

I ended up picking up one of these and a samsung 980 pro because I was building a new system and I am highly impressed with the SN850. It is faster or just as fast as my 980 pro and it comes with utilities from WD if you choose to download and install them that help monitor the drive.

Easy to install. It's one of the best and will run cooler with a heatsink on it that you can find for less than $20. Make sure that you download the WD Dashboard software which allows you to enable gaming mode (if that's what you purchased it for) along with the drive capacity, health, temperatures.
