Dead After 7 Months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this drive direct from Western Digital and it didn't last a year. I'm now currently using a different NVMe drive now and my PC is working fine. I had this SN850X setup as a boot drive with Windows 10 desktop and I kept the PC up to date (drivers included). I always go through the standard shutdown process every time and one day it just couldn't boot to Windows. The drive no longer showed up in BIOS and using a external enclosure with the drive in it was unrecognizable. I contacted WD customer service and went through troubleshooting with them and came to the conclusion that the drive was dead (most likely firmware corruption). The drive was under warranty but they wanted it sent back to them with no physical damage. I'm not comfortable sending my drive back with important and sensitive information still stored on it. I'm very disappointed with their warranty terms and conditions. I paid about $130 for 7 months of use.
