I picked up the 2TB SN850X to handle heavy engineering workloads and large-scale data transfers, and it has not disappointed. In synthetic benchmarks, it consistently hits its advertised read/write speeds, but the real-world performance is where it shines. Whether I'm compiling large projects or moving massive datasets, the latency is negligible. I've noticed that even during sustained "heat-soak" scenarios, the drive manages thermals remarkably well without aggressive throttling. For anyone transitioning from a standard Gen 4 or an older Gen 3 drive, the snappiness in OS responsiveness and load times is immediately tactical. It’s a robust, "set it and forget it" piece of hardware that delivers exactly what it promises. Highly recommended for both professional builds and high-end gaming.

I had purchased this drive on December 21st,2025 for $250 out the door. It was on special marked down from $349.99 and even though the specs on my revent gaming PC build were great, I wanted another 2TB drive for storage...its crazy now only a few weeks later this same drive is now listed for $549.99 and I feel prices will just keep going up. I ended up making this drive my main, and the other I had my storage backup for games. Game sizes nowadays are HUGE and a 1TB won't get you more than 5 games of high-end titles nowadays. This SSd does run a tad hot, which the speeds they hit is expected. There's a version of the SN850X mounted inside a thermal spreader from WD, but for 25$ on Amazon, you can get a pretty good one. And the fact that it decreased 20 °C on high load with one, was worth it. This drive is great, but at the current cost of what it's listed, I hesitate to say it is. If.you see it on a great price,snag it,because they will indeed continue to rise Specials happen quite often in the PC world. But this regardless is one of the best NVMe ive used and was agreay buy for exactly what I needed!

I haven’t done any detailed speed testing, but in normal use everything feels fast and responsive. Coming from an older laptop, the difference is very noticeable, especially with loading, installing and opening programs. The 2TB size is also really nice to have because I wanted enough space for creative work and larger files without immediately worrying about storage. So far no complaints. It does exactly what I needed to do and I think with an SSD, that’s kind of the best sign.

This SSD is lightning quick — Windows boots in seconds and large file transfers are done almost instantly. Perfect for both work and gaming. Load times in games are nearly nonexistent. Easy install and runs cool even without a heatsink. Excellent upgrade for any high-performance build.

I don’t have any issues using my this m.2 drive it is super fast and super cheap for what you are getting! Gen 4x4 perfect for a gaming build or if you are doing a lot of file transfers.

This is hands-down one of the fastest and reliable SSD for PS5 and PC. Its value is great for the 2tb size. I used it for PS5 and so far the speed and game loading time are as expected! No firmware update is needed for this (vs Samsung 980/990 Pro). This is the version without the heat sink, so you will need to spend just a bit more ($10) to get a good PS5-compatible heat sink for use with PS5.

Perfect upgrade, extremely fast speeds, used it for upgrading my Rog Ally, now I absolutely love this thing, plenty of space and awesome price as well

I have the 1TB WD Black SN850 as well as this 2TB SN850x, The speed of both are absolutely blazing compared to previous SSD. Yes, it is very noticeable. Especially if you don't have gig speed internet. This bad boy is literally trying to do read/write speeds faster than I can even download. The only thing I've noticed negatively, but also expected is that the m2 shield thermal pad I have on my motherboard is disintegrating a bit due to the heat generated. This is no problem though. Easily replaceable or you can buy the version that comes with its own shield. I would highly recommend this product.

Fast M.2 even when installed in a Gen 3 system. However not happy with WD as after registering for the warranty they sent me an email stating that I purchased this SSD from EBay even after uploading the Best Buy receipt and reduced the 5 year warranty by 8 months. Took two days after pointing out their error to get things straight. Still recommend this SSD, but watch out for WD.

First note, this doesn't come with a HEAT SINK. But it is PS5 compatible. I used it on my PC and luckily, my motherboard had a PCIE 4.0 slot that had a heat sink on it. The speeds are excellent, and with that comes crazy amounts of heat. If you don't think you need a heat sink, I repeat. Please do.

I have 11 games installed on this drive and it's not even loaded to the halfway point. Beyond fast and genuinely an investment.

After having a defective Samsung 980, I can say I'm very happy I went with this NVMe drive. Fast blazing speeds and best reliability. Also make sure to download the western digital utility program to update the software of these bad boys.

Amazing SSD with even more amazing speeds. Been using it for a while and everything I download to it runs great.

The SN850X came with an eye-opening performance right out of the box. The installation was super easy. However, make sure you have an extra M.2 screw; the package doesn't include the screw for the standoff.
