Slight context before I go any further in this review, I used to own a Samsung SSD back with my first gaming PC. With this one, I decided to go for the WD series of SSDs, and I have had a great time with them! They do great with performance, plenty of settings to customize in their app, along with cool additions like Microsoft Direct Storage support and Game Mode. Its a great SSD, and I would recommend it to anyone who is skeptical coming from Samsung.

Won't know what's wrong with it until it breaks... Seems like a good SSD. I've had it installed as a boot drive for a few months now and it is working ok. I chose it for the price at the time and adequate performance. If I were to purchase an ssd today for the same purpose, I would probably go for 4TB instead of 2. Also, you can obtain much faster performance today with a PCIE 5.0 mainboard and compatible ssd which will blow this away.

Runs really fast when downloading games loads games pretty quick with nice storage

I bought 2 of these for a RAID 0 configuration in a cheap/fast Chines mini PC. The PC is very fast, great specs for the price. These NVME give it superb performance and read/write speeds and 4TB of storage that looks like one big drive (due to RAID 0). Pairing two like this in RAID 0 nearly doubles the already blazing fast read and write speeds of one of the drives. I have a 1TB one in my gaming rig and it makes playing games a joy, due to short loading times.

The hard drive was easy to install and now my pc boots up in under a minute. I’ve never had this kind of speed before. Would recommend!

This drive is very fast, opening things on my PC open very quickly. I do some gaming and a lot of my in game load times are only a few seconds, compared to more than half a minute on my previous SSD drive. Installation was very straightforward and pretty easy. I have the model with the heatsink, so I wasn't able to use the heatsink on my motherboard, which is fine. My bios recognized the drive fine and Windows installation was very smooth. If you are looking for a fast internal drive, I would highly recommend this one.

This model, SN850X, has built in dram compared to the SN770 which does not. This means that it handles I/O thrashing better and reduces the write wears from your page file and windows journaling and logging. It also uses less memory and cpu time compared to drives with no dram which must allocate additional system memory and cpu cycles in their operations. It will also perform noticeably better when close to being full compared to drives with no onboard dram. I have two of the 2TB SN850x's in my 2021 ROG Zephyrus G15 GA503QR. Load times are very good and always CPU bound and the power draw for two of the SN850X 2TB drives is lower than the one 1TB stock drive that came with my laptop When on sale the value is Five stars, when it is not I'd give it four stars. I would definitely recommend this drive as an upgrade for anyone with a drive that doesn't have DRAM or needs a boot drive with more storage.

I was looking for a new SSD card right away so that I could move Star Citizen from my main SSD to this one to free up space, so I looked up on the website and saw that this one was ready right away so bought it. It works just as well as my other SSD that came with the computer.

Super easy to install and format. Benchmarked speed and it was showing speeds higher than the manufacturer advertised. I have other m.2 drives that are comparable in size and price like the Samsung 980 Pro, the Sabrent Rocket and a Corsair MP600 Pro. This drive beat all of them on Read/Write speeds and Sequential testing. Western Digital is the world leader in m.2 storage and this is proof they are king of the hill. Highly recommend.
