    Purchased one of these to replace a dying 1tb Seagate Barricuda HD. Note that the drive appeared to function correctly however in Windows device manager it showed as a Sandisk 1tb Ultra and the serial number showed as "invalid" per both Sandisk and WD support websites. Apparently (per Google) this is a known issue and while I understand WD owns Sandisk so its almost certainly an honest mistake I returned mine, I suggest if you have the misfortune to end up with one yourself you do the same. *(I gave this drive 4 stars and "would rec to a friend" despite my issues because its fast and a very solid choice provided you get one with the correct firmware ... WD/Sandisk is a reliable company IME)
