These External hard drives are fantastic for just about anything you need to store and the size will do you for years unless you are storing extremely large files, but even then this will last you some time. We have stored thousands of home movies, hundreds of thousands of songs, large databases, files, games, etc. and have not even touched the surface of the large storage capacity of these drives. I would only recommend for those that are planning on using these for long periods of time. If you are not sure if you are ever going to use this amount of storage, go with a smaller storage unit and then you can always move up later down the line.

Got this for expansion with my WDCloud drive. Quiet drive but takes a few seconds to spin up if in sleep mode when accessing it after a long time. Lots of space for a great price!!

Plug & Play. Up and running in no time. It just plain works. This is my 9th Western Digital Hard drive. Never had a problem with any of them. They are all still working great and in constant use!

These drives have pretty decent performance and great capacity. I just bought a few to shuck to upgrade my NAS. I bought mine when they went on sale for $179, and they’re totally worth it at that price.

Use it in my synology and it works great. It was recognized in my 1019+ immediately. Bought when it was on sale at $179.99 and it was white label.

I bought this 12tb on sale for $179 ...Instantly shucked it and threw it in my Plex Server. Working great so far! The only negative i can say about it so far, and the reason i left 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that this drive only has 10.9TB of free space out of the box! So technically this is an 11TB drive not the advertised 12TB ....not a problem for me personally as im upgrading from a 3TB so it will take me forever to fill up this "11TB" drive but something to keep in mind if you really do need 12tb of space! Find that kind of annoying since its sold as a 12TB but either way its way cheaper than buying an actual internal drive so I'm overall happy with my purchase! 11TB for a cheap price, cant complain Also as a note, I DID NOT have to mess with the 3 pin mod problem that some people are running into with these drives being shucked ...super simple to fix if you do have that problem, many youtube videos showing exactly how to do it if needed!

After 25 years of PC computing, it was maddening to have files scattered across multiple old PC's, laptops, thumb drives, CD-R backups (remember when burning discs was a regular occurrence?!?) and smaller external hard drives. I needed one place that I could do a data dump for ALL my files, then sort, categorize, and organize them all once and for all. The WD EasyStore 12TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive was my choice and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. The drive is hefty, but it's not designed to be portable like a pocket USB external drive. That's not to say, though, that it CAN'T be portable. It can. But at 12TB, expect that you'll need to have a wall plug available to power the unit - it's not USB powered like the smaller (in size and capacity) pocket USB external hard drives. The drive is USB 3.0; transfer speeds vary but that's based upon a number of factors including what you're transferring FROM (USB drive, optical disc, etc.), what kind of port(s) those devices are inserted into, and your system specifications. Having used this drive across multiple systems, I can attest that it performs as well as each system will allow it to. The better the system, the better the performance (of course!!) It's nice to have all of my files reunited in one location - though remember to back that up as any system can fail at any time!!! I'd have no problem purchasing a second WD 12TB drive for backup. I'm pleased with the price, performance, and style of this drive.

So far, this external drive does what it should. 12TB is a ton of storage space, so I should be set for a while. It's plug-and-play - you don't need to format it to use it with a PC.

Love the amount of space on this thing :) I do a little bit of everything (Film editing, Music Producing, Gaming, and More) so I definitely need space :) But with this, I think I should be good for a while. Also, got it on sale for under $200 so can't beat that.

WesternDigital drives are really the only drives I use. Their support has been great through the years and their reliability is second to none. The one time I did have a drive fail, WD replaced it under warranty. Fortunately that was part of a Network Attached Storage solution... however, I've had several of these Easystore drives and have always had a great experience. They are designed for heavy use and reliably storing files for a long time. I use it to back up archive video and large graphic files. Copy speed is FAST and easy.

In purchased new Macbook Pro 16" Love it! I was concerned going from a 15", that I already thought was heavy and bulky, to an even bigger 16" would be is issue. I was pleasantly surprise to find out it is so much easier to carry around than my 15". Speed is great!

Picked this up dirt cheap and when I shucked it it turns out it was a hgst data center drive which has replaced the wd gold series. Helium sealed and everything. Great drive so far!
