Plenty of storage and user friendly fast doing backups

Works as stated. Tremendously difficult to cloushare through a router. If it is your intent to cloud share then purchase an NAS device. Taking the cheap way out is realloo y painful.

It's just what I was looking for to store a lot of my data on and transfer speeds are sufficient for my purposes. I'm thinking at the current rate I backup my files I will probably only need to purchase another external drive in another 10 years or so. So buying this larger capcity will likely save me money in the long run as well.

Bought two, both are WD Reds, 7200RPM with 256MB cache. Happy as can be.

Quieter than Seagate, tons of capacity, what's not to like.

I have this device to put my games on Razer blade 15 they load a little slower works good!!!

drive case is a little large. otherwise its a great drive, runs quiet and you can easily replace the sata bridge if it fails down the road unlike WS pocket drives where the sata bridge is soldered onto the pcb preventing the ability to fix the drive yourself. WD Software is a pain but only have to deal with it once.

The drive has good performance over USB 3.0, but you may need some airflow if your drive is under constant usage (like hours on end of writing to drive). Under normal, occasional read/writes, it's fine. It also works well if you remove the internal drive and put it inside your computer.

Very slow extended write times, I only use these in write-once/read-often scenarios.

This new drive from Western Digital is amazing. It is an easy plug-n-play drive which adds 12 Terabyte storage capability to your computer as soon as you take it out of the box and connect it. Works super fast, especially if you have upgraded to a new SSD (Also available from Western Digital) as your main drive. I totally love it.
