Customers are saying

Customers admire the easystore 12TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive's massive storage capacity, reliability, and ease of use, finding it to be good value for the price. Positive feedback also highlights its quiet operation and convenient USB connectivity. While some users noted that the drive can run warm and that the RPM may be lower than advertised, the majority of reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

I really like the fact that these have front lights to let you know that the hard drive is on and or is currently reading/writing. Some of the other WD drives lack this feature but on the other hand, some may actually want to not have lights too, but a small piece of tape can fix really easily. It’s much harder to put a light on a drive than it is to cover one up. Still super pricey on BestBuy but they usually have it in stock so that makes it worth it.

Copies fast using USB 3.0 but also works on USB 2. Decent amount of storage in a single external unit. I use this as an offline and offsite backup so only connect it to my PC when I need to run a back up. I primarily keep documents, files for software under development and photos on it, all of which are way to much for cloud storage. If I leave the house for more than a day I take this with me - very convenient, just unplug and go.

12TB seems like infinite storage right now as I have had this since about half a year and it is half full. I use it for video and photo back up. It is a little too slow to use as the main drive for Final Cut Pro, for example, but makes an excellent back up drive for those big files that quickly crowd on storage space on you computer.

Western Digital does it again. Highly recommend portable storage I haven't had a WD fail me yet. Heating is manageable in the shroud with constant use for the 4 hours I was writing files. Not a problem with propping it on top of PC, just don't put it over the radiator portion. Had to ding value since these drives have had a sudden spike in price due to the Chia fiasco.

I’ve already had a couple of these WD external drives for several years - another 12T and an older 8TB. Both have performed flawlessly so I had no qualms about adding another. They’re reasonably fast for an external spinning drive and super easy to set up. And the back-up software already installed is also easy to use to back up my whole PC daily.

Third Time's a Charm (Fast and Reliable)

I purchased this after a different brand hard drive failed after only three uses (to replace a dying drive from the same brand that started failing after only two years of use). My first Western Digital only recently started going out after 10+ years of use, so I thought I would try my luck with them again. I was not disappointed. Cons: A little bit bulky. Easystore requires an outlet to plug into. It is a little bit noisy, but nothing major. Pros: Easystore contains a LOT of storage (Advertised as 12TB, but the actual is closer to 10.6, which is still a great amount.) I work in video and transfer a lot of video and mp3 files to my device, and it seems to transfer over at a faster speed than other devices I've had. And it kept working after three uses. Due to the cords, I recommend keeping the box it arrived in to keep device safe and easier to put away.

These WD Easystore drives are very dependable and come in large capacities. While not exactly designed for this purpose, I use them for my NAS box. For the price, it is hard to beat the value. Especially if you can catch them on sale.
