Snag these when they go on sale - your best $/GB value in storage servers. Search YouTube to "shuck WD" and you see it's easy and gets you good storage capacity at a great price for data hoarders :)

I'm a videographer. I backup my raw files on these Hard Drives. They work great for me. I fill them up and put them on a shelf. They have not failed me yet. I buy 3 to 4 a year when they go on sale.

I purchased one last year and thought 14Tb is large enough to merge all my small hard drives into one place. In my speed test, it is par to WD blue and Hitachi 7k2 rpm HDD. It is quite, but I dont know about the heat. I ddint use temp software to track it.

Great value when you catch them on sale. I, like probably many of you out there, am shucking these drives. They work fine in a QNAP nas with no fiddling. Speed is good enough to saturate my gigabit lan, which isn't saying much, but these drives aren't for those with a need for speed.

Can you imagine how much data can be stored in this HDD Although it's portable, I would recommend more as a backup drive since there is external power required; which makes the portable factor less blurry ; Value for money

    Formatting in QNAP TS-251+

Bought 2 drives while on sale -- Shucked out white label WD140EMFZ 14TB each. Recognized immediately tonight by my 2 bay QNAP, running in RAID 0 as my essential files have redundancy (stored elsewhere). Given 28TB before formatting it just takes some time to format the RAID 0 (typically). Same process as sucking a 12TB drive just 4TB more capacity in my 2 bay unit that I use for 4K/UHD files Obviously way too early to tell reliability but neither arrived DOA. Due to time constraints I did not evaluate whether the 3rd pin would need to be disabled in a Windows PC (tape/etc) as they were bought with my intention of additional QNAP storage (replaced two 8's).

Currently using this for my Plex Server and it fulfills its role nicely. Purchased this during BF when it was $199.99 which was a fantastic price at the time. Does what I need it to, quiet operation, no issues so far. Highly recommended.
