good backup drive to have, have not had any issues with it.

Just buy you one. It'll work. It's Western Digital.

I wrote a review about how terrible my experience was with this drive and how awful customer service was, but magically it seems as though it has been removed... Long story short, the drive worked for a day, then made a clicking noise, and abruptly died. After dealing with tech support via phone, they were extremely unhelpful, and I decided to look into the problem myself. All of that happened within a week of owning the drive. (original review disappeared) I work on computers everyday and do HDD recovery, so after the "support" annoyed me, I investigated the HDD problem myself and it turned out to be a "multi-head failure" non-repairable and it damaged the platters. Seeing as this is a new, sealed helium HDD, and not a regular air-filled HDD, it is not a drive you can easily work on... if you open it, it's done. With that said, this failure occurred after I had already put a few TBs of personal information onto the drive, thus, bringing it to untrustworthy Geek Squad was out of the question. Failing and/or Failed HDD's should only be worked on by professional trusted, recovery techs, and when a drive permanently fails, they should be destroyed to keep information safe. I am greatly disappointed that Best Buy didn't offer to send me a replacement, and I am out the couple hundred dollars this item cost. I may have simply gotten a lemon, but my review is on the drive I received and the awful support.

I love these drives, but you do need to run the WD tool to test the drive before you start to use it. It takes about 30 hours to do it with a drive this size, but it's so worth it as the first one I got was bad.

It's an awesome little hard drive, but it seems to give the impression that you can password protect it, but the WD security app is not compatible with the model

Works well, tremendous value when it was on sale. It's quiet and it stays cool. Only negatives are that it's a little slow, especially during the initial discovery when plugging it in.

So far so good, ran a preclear test to make sure the drive was stable. Large and in charge with no errors.

I use Western Digital a lot and have never had any problems with any of their products.
