Not a true 14tb drive. Know what your buying.

WD doesn't use the MS Standard most other manufactures do, so its calculation issue. They can call it what they want, but you dont get 14tb of storage as you would with 90% of other manufactures. I just wish I had known that, I would have jumped on a true 12tb drive and higher quality brand/model. Will likely return this later this week.

So easy to setup, very fast considering the port.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered a pair of these drives for some archival backups on a couple of systems and I feared that their connection would be a huge drawback and the drive being so slow spinning comparatively would be very slow to write data. Wow, was I worried for nothing. Sustained writes of over 200MBps, yes, big B were possible with the backup software (not included) using Acronis fwiw. The drive spins down very accurately after no activity which is great for longevity. Very happy with this drive, already considering another one.

Its good when its working

But I've had to delete and reformat this twice already while having it. I'm hoping that this isnt a regular occurrence. I'm using it for my backbook pro, but it wont always mount correctly on hard drive.

Cheap storage with poor cooling

I had one fail after a year and a half for no apparent reason other than they run hot with little cooling. Everyone raves about these because of the low cost but I wouldn't trust it for important file storage long term.
