Stores a ton of space - great drive to just back up everything. It seems a bit slow - but reliable so far.

Not a bad price for storage, but not very quick and wouldn't use it for gaming.

Well needed a hard drive that has big space for mu files and Thankful that this was on sale.

I purchased two of these for use in a Synology NAS. I always run the Complete Test on any WD external HD before using them. Both drives passed. I also allowed Synology to test the drive (only installed one so far) and it also passed.

Reliable, but at 5400 RPM, which is the maximum speed, it's SOOOOO slow! This is NOT at 7200 RPM drive. If you're used to SSD, you'll only use this thing for archiving. It makes iPhoto so slow. Hard disk drives in general really make the computer lag. It slows down my whole computer when accessed, but this isn't a ding against the drive itself. It's a ding against old technology.

Might return this one, not sure I want to bank my 14gb of data on this one, heard these one getting bad

Slow write speeds but it's used purely as a backup device so works well.

Haven't Had any issue with it since I bought this and I'll probably buy a bigger one soon As of Black Friday 2021 this is $30 cheaper than when I bought it so as far as I can tell it isn't a price bait and switch.

Stopped working after one month. Unable to even open the hard drive on any computer as it says it’s unreadable. Lost over 1,000 professional photos. I had the Best Buy warranty but it’s worthless as well. They won’t cover the cost to recover the photos, only to replace the hard drive. Would not buy again.

Hard to admit that I lost data saved for over 20 years due to an unfortunate buy. I should have had this hard drive to avoid such losses. Very glad with my purchase

This was a great buy in my opinion given the sales price I got this job for versus the regular price. It quiet and has no vibration in the drive. Transfer rates are good. Only thing Iwish it has was a power switch to turn it off when not in use. Due to that it is normally always running even when in use because I forget to unplug it when I'm not using it.

Works well, should plug directly into the computer for best results

Purchased an 8 TB drive. Did not try to reformat until after the Best Buy warranty period was over. Would not reformat. Discarded drive without being able to use it. Bought the first 14 TB drive. It would not reformat. Returned to Best Buy for a second unit. After several attempts was able to reformat drive. After ~1 week, it had to be reformated again so I lost all the data on it. I currently have ~12 TB of information on the drive but not sure whether to consider it dependable. Therefore, not very happy with the drives. I have six 8 TB drives and all are WD. Due to the recent difficulty I am considering transferring to Seagate drives in the future. I was also disappointed in Best Buy not honoring the WD warranty and just referring me to WD. I buy local for the convenient of local support, not to be referred to the vendor for a product replacement.

Would not recommend purchasing. Drive was defective right out of the box; would not even turn on. Tried to create an RMA with Western Digital since the 30 day return period had passed, but WD said product was not eligible for RMA. So much for the 2 year warranty! What a waste.
