Best Buy had a very good sale on this item at the time I purchased so I was able to get my money's worth for sure. The hard drive works great, set up took a little research to be found on my network but was easy to figure out.

I needed something to store all my games, videos and pictures and was tired of running out of space, now this thing is wonderful it truly a plug and play device and i have not had to buy any other product since this purchase.

I use this for old footage from previous clients, great option for things you want to keep but won’t necessarily access regularly. Obviously slower read and write speeds than ssd options, but reliable storage!

Shucked this drive to add to my Unraid. Helium filled and runs cooler than other drives. One issue with this drive is that due to the number of platters, the drive doesn't have mounting screw positions in the middle (bottom and side) unlike smaller capacity drives. Since some drive cages in cases use top and middle screw holes, you might have to get creative with mounting - I had to use top screws and zipties to secure drives inside the cage.

Excellent WD external drive. Quiet and fast. Some people have mentioned that it is loud, but I can't get mine to make any loud noises. Now-- every now and then it will do something like calibrate the heads or whatever and it does make a small "chunking" sound, but it makes this sound rarely and it muffled. Transfer speeds are limited to your USB port. This is a USB3 device, so you can expect about 5 mbps when using a USB3 port on your computer. USB2 will be slower. I'm using this to back up several computers in the house as well as storage space to duplicate photos and other stuff. I am very happy with this-- especially for the price.

Solid drive. Quiet, not much vibration. Doesn't get hot, seems to run fairly cool even when transferring large files or when in heavy constant use. Lots of storage. I haven't had it too long yet. I hope it will last me many years.

It runs cool. It has a lot of storage. It is very quiet. Great price on Black Friday. Quick SMART test showed no errors. Took 5 days to reach 90% on the complete test, no errors so far. Downside is that it is STILL at 90% on WD Drive Utilities complete testing. It's been like 240 hours running that test. How long is it supposed to take? WD help is less than helpful. They advised me to use WD Dashboard. I guess I'll stop the test and try that.

I have bought WD for most of my hard drive needs, and this one, as expected, had not issues, was pretty quiet during use, and I managed to transfer my data to it without any problems...

This drive can be "shucked" by removing the case and the USB adapter board. Once the drive is pulled from the case, you can use it in a PC for storing movies or other data internally. At the sale price of $200, this is a great deal. It's not a super fast drive, but for storing movies and music it is perfect.

Reliable and quiet, high capacity, fast read/writes

This drive is a good choice if you want a great deal of storage...presumably for backup (don't rely on a single copy of anything, make duplicates). So far it has worked flawlessly. It is fast using the USB 3.0 connection. If you have a lot of stuff on your computer, this will allow you to protect it all.
