Easy to Install and Use, Good Price per TB
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this external USB Drive, good price per TB when I purchased it and it was, as it should be, super simple to install and make operational. I back up all of my computers to this drive by sharing it on the host computer as a mapped drive. I recommend it! I will get another when I have a certificate or BB has a deal!

A good drive if you can find it on sale.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has great transfer speed (for an HDD) and enormous capacity. Very easy to use, and the backup programs that come included work pretty well. The drive is alarmingly clunky on first connection, but silent throughout normal operation.

Great Storage/Great Price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I accumulate a lot of data that I require backing up. I would tend to buy another external drive every couple years as capacity would increase within that time (I have 9 at this point between WD and Seagate). Best Buy’s WD EasyStore has been the only hard drive I have purchased in last 4 years (I have 4). The style is subtle (more so then the non Best Buy elements). It’s quiet, has fast write speeds and the price if you keep up with Best Buy promotions its unbeatable anywhere else. I always buy when a drive is around $14.50/TB. You really can’t beat that price when it’s offered. My last drive was 18TB and wound up being $13.88/tb. No issues so far on the last 4 I have purchased. A very good product and exclusive of Best Buy. Another nice thing is they have good weight and balance. I have bumped into my desk a number of times while it’s plugged in and it has yet to fall. Pretty good design for those who are less careful. Highly recommend this especially with Best Buy’s great promotions !

Memories Galore
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a backup for videos and photos that I took of my five children from baby to adulthood, as well as our three pugs that grew up with our children. I am beyond thrilled that I had such an amazing hard drive with so much storage space. Thank you WD Easystore.

Absolutely Worth It
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for work and its been such a life saver for not only me but the company and our clients. We can house countless video shoots and projects. This is my second purchase because the first one filled up and we house all our shoots, but it lasted me 3-4 years of heavy 4k footage. Definitely a must buy for any videographer or design studio. One draw back, it can take a few seconds to load and can be noisy when loading

WD is hard to beat.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a large drive for storage/backup. This fit the bill. The price was good considering the supply chain constraints and whatnot. Drive was recognized by my Windows box easy peazy. It's somewhat audible over the other noises in my computer space but it won't be running 24/7 so this shouldn't be an issue. Overall happy with purchase.

Always Reliable Over the Years
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've bought a lot of these external hard drives over the last decade, and the Western Digital ones have always been very reliable. I generally don't have to replace one due to failure, but instead only buy more when I need to increase storage space for a specific type of file (and then I use the smaller drive for something else). So far this 18TB external (storage space on a Windows computer actually about 16.38TB) has worked fine as usual. The sleek vertical design is also nice for when you have several lined up on a shelf. No problems at all with the product.

Shuckable
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Massive hard drive that is easy to shuck. I got WD whites out of the ones I took apart. They are a little bit of a pain to get open if you care about not breaking the case, but some cut up credit cards and a YouTube video will show you the method. Works great in my Synology NAS.

Great product! Worth the money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product was super easy to set up on our computer, just plug it in and your ready to go! We had a flat non ac powered hard drive that crashed and died on us so we were recommended to purchase one that actually plugs into the wall, they said these ones were more durable and less likely to crash. We had a hiccup at one time where our speeds dropped super slow, but all we had to do was unplug it and replug it in and its been fine since then. We use this for a media storage device so we have multiple tbs worth of movies so we wanted something to protect against loss once again. Worth the money in my opinion, if your stuff is important to you and you want to store it in a stationary fashion this is the device for you. Almost forgot we purchased this around 4 months ago.

Excellent external drive
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tons of storage space, 140-160 mb/sec transfers thru USB 3.1 port. Easy to set up and use. Quiet, runs cool. If you can grab these on sale, they are an excellent choice for backups and/or media storage. Keeps up fine with 4K video streaming.

All the space you need .
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good little storage that holds a ton ! Only issue is that it takes a long time to transfer footage because it’s a HDD . If you mind the long transfer speeds then you’ll want a portable SSD . But if you don’t mind the transfer speeds then it’s perfect.

Great Big Drive - Worth the $$$ When On-Sale
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.18TB Easystore - storage space galore. Easy to set up and easy to use. I have my external hard drives on their own surge protector and are only powered up when needed. I had mine delivered by Best Buy, they did a poor job of packing. The hard drive box with a few half-inflated air pillows - no protection at all.

Problem with 18TB HDDs
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received two of the Easystore 18TB HDDs today. Both are nice, quite and relatively fast while spinning at 5400 RPM. Unfortunately both drives are getting stuck at 90% while running the latest version of the WD Drive Utilities v. 2.0.0.76 and not moving any further. Same story with the WD Life Guard Diagnostc v. 1.37.0 Both drives will not complete the basic Quick Drive Test. Repeated this procedure a few times with the same outcome. Best Buy did a great job, shipping both drives in just 2 working days, that's why I am giving them Five Stars. Different story is with Western Digital - no star for them so far. These are new product/new models. I believe that problem is with their diagnostic software not the drives itself and if I am right here, WD needs to upgrade their diagnostic software ASAP to avoid a mess with possible number of returns. I already contacted WD about this matter, but Best Buy should contact them also in order to resolve these issues quickly. For those of you who will be interested in more detail, Crystal software reports that these are the WD 180EDFZ-11AFWA0, formatted NTFS capacity is 16.3TB

Surprisingly fast
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first one I bought was dead on arrival. From the moment I plugged it in, I heard the notorious "click of death" and i wasn't even able to format the drive. I exchanged it for another one, exactly the same. Fortunately, this drive does not have any problems (so far), and it is surprisingly fast. While transferring large ammounts of files over ~50-100MB, it sustains read and write speeds over 230MB/s (megabytes per second) when using Linux. Unfortunately, the maximum read & write rates I have seen while transferring the same files in Windows 11, have been about 125MB/s (megabytes per second). This while using the same drive, same partition (ExFAT), same computer (dual boot), same USB port, and the same files, while using the latest drivers and updates. However, I consider this to be normal, because every single storage device I own operates much faster in Linux vs Windows. Four stars because the first one was defective, otherwise I'm pleased with this drive so far.

Mixed Performance One of Two Drives Failed
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a WD EasyStore 10TB in March 2020 to use to store media files for my simple Plex server. It still works 5 years later. I purchased a WD EasyStore 18TB in July 2024 to move my Plex files to. It started failing around the 12 month mark and completely died in September 2025. BestBuy only can recover up to 2 TB so their data recovery service was not an option for my 10 TBs. Outside data recovery quote was $1000 if only the drive enclosure was bad or $3600 if the drive itself was the issue. BestBuy only allowed warranty return. They would not allow me to attempt to remove the drive from the enclosure to see if I the enclosure was the issue and the drive itself could be accessed using one of the internal hard drive enclosures they sell without voiding the warranty. That was the worse part of this! I do not recommend this product since BestBuy won’t try to separate the drive from enclosure to see if they can save the data and they won’t allow you to try without forfeiture of the warranty return option. It is not like they can’t see a computer won’t read the drive and can’t hear the even louder than usual clicking noise the drive made trying to spin up.

Posted .Hi Deanie, We're sorry to hear that the drive did not meet your expectations. That's certainly not the experience we aim for. We understand how frustrating that can be. If your product is still under warranty, we would like the chance to make it right. was amazing deal when $199.99
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very large capacity. Drive hums and makes noise sometimes when idle. Bought 7 months ago and no issues so far. Have been wanting another 1 but can't see paying $300+ for something I paid $199.99 7 months ago. Value 4* good @$199 / 2* fair @$300+ I would recommend but not at over $250.

Great drive and easy to shuck
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I shucked this hard drive to use in a NAS. It was very easy to shuck (plenty of tutorials online). A guitar pick or something thin comes in handy. I can’t speak to the case or anything of that nature since I didn’t use it but WD always makes great drives and this one is no different. Solid choice at any reasonable price, great choice if you snag a good deal on it.
