Computers will not recognize it.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My computers would not recognize it. I purchased two of these models 18TB. The first one my iMac would not recognize at all. I have windows on an external drive so I booted up my Windows 10 and I could hear the beep for a connection but the drive was nowhere to be found in Explorer. I returned it thinking I just received a bad unit. I had just purchased a 16TB two weeks earlier and it worked fine. Plus, I own several other WD Easystore models. The second one arrived and this time I could see it in the WD discovery and even showed up in disk utility. However, the drive never booted up and I could not erase it to format it. I downloaded WD Utility. It showed up Easystore 264D, but would not allow me to erase it or format it. I then tried it on my powerbook. Nothing. I got desperate and tried it on a PC. It never showed up in Explorer. I am returning it. The hard drive will just not boot up.

Not reliable, make sure you have redundancy.
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lasted about 19 months with weekly use on my Plex server. Then it died. Out of warranty, and the drive (18TB) was less than 50% full.

Worth the cost of entry
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Exactly what you would expect. The reason to buy it from Best buy instead of directly from Western digital is with the western digital utility. You can turn off sleep mode if you are using this for your media library as opposed to as a backup/ occasional drive.

Good Simple Drive, but Not for Macs!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy setup - unfortunately, the box claims it comes with a NTFS for Mac driver that is neither on the drive itself nor on Western Digital's website! I ended up backing 8 TB onto this drive and now can't use it except as a reader drive on my Mac....

WD - easystore 18TB External USB Hard Drive
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this WD - easystore 18TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive but it was very noisy so I returned it thinking it was defective. My other gripe was how much usable capacity formatting takes up. I don't remember exactly now but it was something like 2 tb.

Delivery person can cancel your order!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Extremely annoying delivery process. Apparently Best Buy uses SHIPT for delivery. Something like an uber or grocery delivery service. Anyway, the delivery driver unilaterally canceled my order!! No clue why. SHIPT didn't even know why. Had to reorder, shelling out twice! for the same order. Not sure why Best Buy can't make good on the order and expidite delivery without demanding I pay twice! I will report back if/when I am reimbursed for the first order. And if/when the delivery is successfull made.

BUYER BEWARE
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 3rd easystore to fail. Stopped working within a year of purchase. WD will not help with data recovery so you will have to pay hundreds to thousands if you wan't any of your data back.

Posted .Hi, Please accept my sincere apologies for the experience that you had to go through. WD does not have any in-house data recovery service in order to recover the files from the affected/non-functional hard drives. You may need to contact a Data Recovery company to recover the data. If you require further assistance or have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
If there are no backups or second copy of the data on an different device or location and data recovery is required, please contact one of our Data Recovery Partners or refer to the link at https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detailweb/a_id/18754

Be careful when trusting this item
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It happens. I get it. Bought drive four months before I opened it. First connection, drive comes up but has a recurring click. Too large to trust this won’t be a problem. Wd support offers to replace with a refurb unit. They offered to consider my request for a new unit but haven’t heard from them as they promised. Too risky.

Useless
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t expect this to act like an external drive that you and transfer files. This is for back up only

Returned it for a new one.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to return this one. It seemed to take forever to load and sometimes freeze my computer. It would start up and spin, stop, start up again over and over. Some folders would take three minutes or more just to display. My other WD external drives don't have this issue. Not sure what it is.

Worst hard drive ever
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.3 of these failed on me in a 42 day period. I dont know if it was just a bad batch or what. But best buy right away let me switch them each time no issue. And even offered a full refund, i just went with another brand. But the store was amazing and was incredibly helpful

Unreliable Hard Drive
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unless you are going to store 20TB of unimportant information, don’t rely on this hard drive. I bought it and stopped being recognized by computer in 2 weeks.
