It had some stuff already on there I guess from the factory. The files dated 2019. I just deleted those and it’s been a good device so far. I like it.

This WD portable hard drive (HD) is easy to use to reduce clutter and files on your desktop or physical computer hard drive! Easy access to the files on this HD. Also, it allows you to back up files regularly using a timed system! Once downloaded, it takes you through the steps of how to set up the auto backups! It’s so small and easily portable! Great buy!

    NOT VISTA COMPATIBLE!

I read the reviews and I checked the customer questions to be sure this was compatible with Windows Vista. Multiple questions about this very issue were asked & answered in the positive. So because my poor old Vista computer has been saying hard drive failure imminent for about a year or so & crashes every day now multiple times, I figured I’d better back it up pretty soon. I can’t afford a new desktop at this time & extremely dislike my ASUS laptop but I do want some of my files/pics from the Vista system so I purchased the WD EasyStore external hard drive to back it up. First nowhere on the box or paperwork (which is just an arbitration agreement in different languages) does it say anything about operating system compatibility so I plugged in the hard drive The first part of the installation process says I need a driver I don’t have so I updated the drivers then a box came up that said NOT COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM with a GIF of a broken heart. That’s nice. So I looked on the WD Easystore website for the PDF of Instructions for this external hard drive & downloaded it. The first part of the downloaded instructions said compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Macs-Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan, Sierra. That’s it, so no, Vista is not able to download the installation of this hard drive. So what were all the “yes’s” when others asked if it was Vista compatible? I did discover if you download folder by folder to the hard drive it will take them & read them just fine, it just takes time & since I really don’t want my whole C drive of Vista downloaded anyway it will get the job done with patience. But I was curious what the heck else is the download exec. that comes loaded on this drive that is not compatible with Vista? Would it make transferring faster, easier? The drive seems to work fine doing it folder by folder so I’ll keep it but for those counting on Vista compatibility it is a no go for total access.

It works as expected, until I activated my Apple Cloud and now nothing happens. Is Apple blocking it or is it defective? But it is not full. So confusing.
