It has a small footprint and uses USB power so no need for an external power plug. It's plug and play with windows and ready to use. I did not use the WD software so I am not familiar with it. The transfer is via USB 3 so it is faster. I would buy it again or recommend it.

Excellent Backup Drive

You have only the included USB cable to plug in, as it gets its power from that. The included software does not take long to set up for automatic backups. The backups are automatic, and are fast enough that you could schedule multiple times per day.

Great backup drive and so easy to use

The computer recognized it and installed all the right drivers at startup. I have transferred all my valuable files and photos to the drive and it took very little time to do it. Access is fast and transfer is very fast and easy. Strongly recommend this drive.
