The man who sold this to me, said I simply had to plug it in. WRONG. You have to reformat Windows OR Mac...and I certainly did not feel comfortable doing that. Will be returning.

I couldn't really get this to work properly and the software that you have to use to get my data to download was kinda clunky.

I didn't find it intuitive I did read the manual and I formatted external drive and then did a backup. I had been expecting to see some new icons but I had to use the icons for may last WD external drive. That was weird. The problem I have now is that all my music, and I have a lot, got it's extensions changed in the backup process and now I can't play any of my music. I think I'll try a Dell backup drive next time.

I found this 1TB Western Digital External Hard drive too slow, but maybe this was because I hooked it up to my computer via a USB 2.0 interface. It might be faster hooked up to a USB 3.0 interface.

It came with no instructions on how to use it with a Mac. It’s not user friendly. There’s no customer service number and when I emailed them they advised it would be 48 hours before I receive a response.

I followed the procedures outlined in the as always too skimpy instructions, and the unit seemed to sit quiescent instead of starting the backup process. I will have to get on the line with geek squad for help.

Once I got home after purchasing this product I was shocked to discover this external could not be password protected. I never even considered this assuming no one would ever think it was a good idea to have an external lacking this option. It is on a list from WD that excludes it from necessary security options- this information should be included on the packaging. I’ll be returning it for a WD passport. Waste of a product coming from a very reputable company.

I had this product given to me prior. The USB cable does not connect properly to the storage unit after multiple uses. I had to buy a new box just to have the same cable in case this one malfunctions again.

Got the drive in Jul of 2019. A few months later, it stopped working. I took it in to Best Buy, and they confirmed the drive was not working, but could not return my money. They said I had to contact Western Digital. When I tried that, the product was apparantly no longer covered by warranty (even though their website says their products are covered from 3-5 years depending on the product).

A pain to format. the unit came with instructions in many different languages, except for English. Spent a long time getting through to WD and having them format it remotely. Not happy!

Got this for my son who is very tech savvy. It says it’s for Windows and MAC but in order to use it for a MAC you have to reformat the drive. He couldn’t get it to reformat correctly. Returned it.

When I bought the drive for my Mac it told me that the drive was corrupted and it couldnt fix it. I returned the product and got a full refund that was efficient and fast

Item did not function correctly and had to be returned to Geek Squad for analysis. Geek Squad needed my computer to use in analysis but took too long for me to be without my computer. Returned item as defective. Bought replacement Samsung SSD which appears to be working fine.

I backed up my data and put it in my dresser drawer and after 6 months went to update my stored data and it was dead. Just wouldn't do anything when plugged it in. This is the second one that did this.

Was not able load backup software, install files did not recognize WD drive. No online help available. Going to return.

i bought this for my son's PS4 and it is not allowing me to move any of this saved games on to it. It is saying not enough storage.

An awful time setting up the backup...after a couple of years it not only stopped backing up files, but it no longer allows me to access the control panel for the device...customer service is a looping system with SanDisk and it is now just an external drive...no longer a backup device...boo...

I figured out that having a good flash drive is better than that easy store drive. I almost wasted money until I returned it for a regular flash drive.

My fam always backs up computer files to delete everything on computers n phones... have about 8 of these... the 3 oldest dont let me open my files for some reason:/

wanted this for backup but backs up too frequently. Ended up not using it. Also had issues seeing what had been backed up.
