After moving data that goes back to the late 1990's, in a flash it all disappeared. I work in IT. I've tried to recover the data, but it appears to be vaporware. I don't recommend this drive.

TERRIBLE!!!! Started backing all my pictures on on it. Now 3 months later my computers can’t access it. “Device has malfunctioned.”

I needed enough external storage to back up my laptop that had to be sent out for repairs, and the WD Easystore 1TB drive was perfect for that. Not only did I need to access the backed up files on the external drive using my wife's computer while mine was gone, but also to restore the image, or complete system and data structure, of my laptop when it was returned. The Easystore allowed me to easily drag and drop the files needed for backup to it, then once plugged into my wife's computer provided the same directory and folder structure as my laptop had. When my laptop was returned I quickly restored the files on the new hard drive in it. Installation was instant, performance was flawless and the price of only $50 made backing up my files affordable. And now I have a drive to store movies, videos and other files to be accessed by other devices for trips or in-home viewing. The Easystore is very compact and ruggedly built, so convenient to take with you yet strong enough to withstand typical bumping or dropping. I love it.

This device is easy to use and has great speed and memory for the user. You can navigate easily and that is a bonus for we who are not great tech folks

I have been using this SSD for three months as a backup for my PC and could not be more pleased. The setup was simple and straightforward while hourly backups run automatically in the background. I used it to copy the hard drive of an old computer onto a new one in just a few minutes without problems or difficulties. (When I restored a hard drive from an online cloud backup on another computer that same process took several days). Now it's a reliable backup that is almost silent and has allowed me to cancel my online cloud subscription for less than half the price of the annual subscription. Although mine doesn't move its small thin size makes it very portable. Great drive for a great price!

I bought this mainly to use as a music library drive. My wife was kind enough to have bought me a digital music server and I needed a way to load my 2500 songs onto it. Since the music server only has a traditional USB port, I opted for the WD-Easystore. The Easystore is very fast to retrieve my music files, some of which are high-resolution (96/24 to 192/24). The external drive doesn't take up too much space in my audio cabinet. A "best" buy.

Excellent unit. Very easy to set up and use. Used in multiple operating systems with no trouble going back and forth.
