The PWL Click is Unbearable

However if you're intending to have this sit on a desk plugged in all the time you WILL be driven mad by the Preemptive Wear Leveling (PWL) noise. A quick internet search will provide you a video that shows this behavior in action. This is BY DESIGN every 5 seconds you will hear an audible 'clunk'. AGAIN BY DESIGN this occurs! If this were sitting in a sever room or on a NAS in a closet somewhere that might not be a big deal, but when this thing is sitting next to you its incredible that this passed a smell test for a consumer product. This is apparently not configurable either even with WD Drive Tools. Had I know this I WOULD NOT have purchased this drive. The frustrating part about this is that other drive manufacturers (Seagate for example) have not taken this route. Its unclear if there really is longevity benefits to this design, but sadly I'm returning these drives due to this issue.
