Quality control is worst I’ve seen

First was housing the wrong sized drive. Bought a 20TB and when it booted up, only had 14TB of capacity. Returned that one, brought the second one home and the i/o board was clearly out of alignment as soon as I tried to plug the power and USB in. Had to wiggle it quite a bit to even get the cables to plugin, and then one I plugged it i to my computer, nothing. Dead on arrival. It seems the low price we are seeing here is likely a new product line where they slap refurbished/returned drives into a cheaply built housing, and there is very little QC happening as they get stuffed in the box. Very disappointed.

Huge storage capacity to fully store backups for my two internal 10TB drives. Good transfer speeds for a disk drive and for $329.99 on sale I can’t complain at all about the price. Would recommend.

Out of the blue, the drive was throwing bad cluster errors. The faulty drive was under an extended return policy and was grateful for that as the failure occurred a few days before the return period expired. I was very pleased with Best Buy's customer service in getting an RMA approved and speedy replacement, 1 day ahead the estimated delivery date. Sadly, the replacement drive was faulty too and would not initialize in Windows 11. Not sure if WD just experienced a bad batch of drives or if the lack of padding/packaging material in the box contributed to the drive's failure. As I write this, the second faulty drive is on its way back to Best Buy for a full refund. I'm glad Best Buy stands behind the products they sell and grateful the return process went smoothly with no hassles.

Horrible Drive
