Really Bad Write Speeds
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.To begin, Western Digital (WD) owns SanDisk since mid-2016. It is not surprising WD would begin to rebrand and use existing SanDisk flash drive casing. For this model, it is near identical to the SanDisk Cruzer (Glide) USB 2.0 flash drive casing. It should have been a red flag to not see WD advertise the performance of this USB 3.0 flash drive on the packaging and Best Buy's website doesn't mention it's read/write performance at all. I was disappointed to see this flash drive does have excellent read speeds but the write speeds were very underwhelming and poor for a USB 3.0 drive. The write speeds were horrendous and pretty much at USB 2.0 levels. I have for comparison a SanDisk - Ultra 32GB USB 3.1, USB Type-C Flash Drive. This flash drive also has a USB 3.0 USB Type-A port like the WD Easystore and it provided more than 5 times the write speed consistently. (I used the highest result for the WD Easystore but it consistently had write speeds of under 20MB/s) For the sale price of $7.99 it's inexpensive and disposable but even spending a few dollars more for better write performance would make a big difference. This device is okay for basic uses such as storing smaller files or for a kid to carry around but you could buy better for not much more. The redeeming aspect for why it gets 2 stars instead of 1: Price and Good Read Speeds
