Customers are saying

Customers love the easystore 4TB external hard drive's massive storage capacity and ease of use. Its reliability and competitive price are also frequently praised, along with the included USB flash drive. While some users noted occasional noise or heat issues, these concerns were less prevalent than positive feedback.

    Slow

This drive is extremely slow. That it's fast because it's USB 3.0 is nonsense. Its read speeds don't even come close to USB 2.0 transfer speed. And that the usb interface is soldered to the drive is a bummer because you can't take it out and plug it in with a SATA cable. Cheap for the capacity.

Worked well for just under 4 years

At the time I bought it: Decent value, snappy, easy to use. Never really had a problem with it. But a short time before the 4th anniversary of using this drive (very light use, mind you - just used it as storage for movies), it just failed. None of the usual markers of overheating, latency, noise... just plugged it in one day and it's dead.

    Horrible !

One of the worst hard disks I have ever used. It worked for around 15 days. After that once I plug it into any PC, it would not even detect the HD. I tried all sorts of troubleshooting, nothing seems to work. I ended up loosing a large amount of very important information. I can't even return the HD now because it's past the return policy date.

    Terrible 4tb model. WILL FAIL.

I bought this 4tb portable hard drive August 2018 and had been working fine until out of no where April 2019 started clicking and would not load. Immediately went and bought another thinking a freak incident. The second hard drive purchased in April 2019 FAILED in July 2019 while I was underway (U.S. Navy) with the same out of nowhere clicking and would not boot up. Both were still under WD warranty replacement so were shipped back upon my return in August under RMA. I've never had this problem with WD hard drives from the 500gb years ago, 1tb, 2tb, and 3tb models. But this 4tb model, TERRIBLE and no guarantee that the replacements (which under their warranty could be a refurbished model) is NO guarantee it wont fail either.

    super crap

Had the thing less than 3 months and constantly get "the request failed due to a fatal device hardware error" Prior to putting my important files on there to be backed up, i formatted it, checked it, ran antivirus on my files, and now every 30th or so time i have enough access to look but it craps out when i try to transfer the data to a different external hd. Files will stop at 91% and not go further. Doesn't matter if it is a large or small transfer. Used WD before on flash drives first external from them and more than disappointed.

Poor quality drive, prone to failure

When I received the item, it was getting really hot and I always used to worry whether or not it will work properly in the future. 6 months after, it got corrupted and I lost all my data. Wasted over $140 on recovery services but still couldn't recover my wedding pictures. Their customer service is also horrible and I couldn't generate a return request online. Wasted 45 minutes just on call to process the return and replacement service. I bought this watching these good reviews but I wouldn't be able to trust another WD drive, ever!

Worked as it should for about a week, then nothing. Sent it to WD and they sent me another one in return, same thing worked for maybe a week and now it is recognized and opens but nothing can be added, deleted, or opened. Waste of time.
