I've tried to this in various ways sometimes attaching the drive to my router which has a USB 3 port or directly to a laptop or other device or even attached to one of the ports on my network-attached storage. Haven't had any issues at all as usual we all worry a little bit about reliability with these backup devices so I tend to keep more than one of them around duplicate copies and duplicate storage with that said the price was awesome.

Convenient size for portable storage

My 4-TB or larger drives are usually desktop plug-ins but this was worth a try. I like it. It fits easily in my laptop bag. It does go into sleep or standby mode pretty quickly. That makes the wake-up delay a nuisance for photo editing and searching. But google gave me suggestions on keeping it awake that seem to work (time delay batch file). Transfer and backup rates are 80 - 120 MB / sec when you keep it engaged in a task so that is decent.
